Question SEAT IBIZA - due a 100k service

    Hi

I've never used this site before! but i found a message posted by someone through google about them servicing their seat.
I dont know much about cars

Anyway i've been screwed on servicing for my ibiza in most of its services - its cost be in most cases between 100 to 300 quid! and in some cases the problem has re-occurred
i.e.: the back rear washer must have been reconnected 6 times! its fixed then within a month its broken again

my car is due in for its 100k service - its a 2004 ibiza 1.4 petrol!

i wanted to know if you's could tell me what needs done to it in this service!

also the car recently has started to make a droning noise when you drive it - the faster you get the quicker this noice and louder it becomes and when you slow down you can hear the noise slow down (is it something to do with the time belt do you think?

oh by the way the noise is coming from the engine!
There is no problem driving the car! just the noise - i have to turn the radio up really loud to drown out the noise

any help would be great. thanks

Droning noise could well be wheel bearings.

100k on an 04 plate Ibiza, you must seriously drive that!

Hell 100k miles in that short period of time, where are you driving it to everyday ??

I agree with fox, definatley wheel bearings, had one go on my old Corsa when I had it, with that sorta mileage on it I wouldn't expect it to be anything else.

£100-£300 seems about right for a service too

is it 100k km or miles?

Re: SEAT IBIZA - due a 100k service

Hey thanks for the response. I thought it might have been the wheel bearings when the noise first started cheers. i'l mention that to the service men on wednesday!

its only got 981/2 thousand miles on it at the moment - but its booked in for its service now this wednesday!

Where do i drive - as far up as Derry and as far south as Dublin (i travel 70 miles rtn every day to and from work)

(except of course if i am following the gaelic team - then its where-ever they play in ireland of course)

A car was made for driving - not much point sitting in my garage! Public transport is SH@@ in ireland (north and south)

Thanks again! I hope thats all it is!

Re: SEAT IBIZA - due a 100k service

i had my car in for its service yesterday!

    What was serviced:
new bulb for headlight and rear backlight (as both were out)
    rear washer (reattached)
    Oil - changed and drained
    Diagonostic check
checked the front left wheel and it needs a new bearing! - charge £86.00 just for the new bearing - they said they would need to order this in
Checked tyres! they suggested 3 needed replacing

    Charge: £103.00

Just taking the car out of the garage - the engine was 'missing' wasnt running properly (this problem wasnt there when i brought it in. Brought it back and they came for a test drive with me - nothing was wrong!
I went to get my new tyres from a guy i know - he told me i only needed 2 changed - got them changed with him! - on way back i noticed my indicator wasnt working on the same side that they had fixed the breaklight
returned to the garage - asked them to fix it - which they did - then asked which 3 tyres needed changing - they checked them and told me only two needed fixing and they were wrong!

oh i had also gone to another garage which sells parts for cars and bought the bearing for £20. they told me they were trying to rip me off and that the back wheel bearings and hub cost about £86 the front one is only £20. (this is being put in for me for £20 by another garage)

when i was just about to leave the garage for the final time (I had returned twice since it was released from its service) the engine light came on! They did another diagnostic and i don't understand this part (i cant recalll the name because it is too technical) - but they told me that the car is taking in to much air (i think he said) to pertrol - its meant to run at 5:1 but it is runnign at something like 9:1. and as a result the car would be heavier on the petrol - the reason why the light came on is because it is blowing out more fumes from the exhaust!

I dont know what he called the part that would need to be tested but it is something to do with the electrics - he said that the whole thing would need to be taken out and tested) before they can confirm what it is - and order the part and to fix it!

ArseH@@@s i think i will take it to another seat dealer to see whats wrong with it - they obviously dont have a notion!
