    Lotus factory open day

Did anyone else go? To celebrate 40 years of production at Hethel they opened up the factory for people to wander around looking at all sorts of interesting things

My friend Tony and I tried our hand at the pit-stop challenge where you had to swap rear wheels and front brake pads on an S2 Elise on jacks. Good fun, we were in 2nd place when we left, can't take us anywhere without fiddling with some kind of car!

Definitely could be tempted by an Elise now though...

i drove past Hethel last week actually, as I was in Norfolk.....didn't know about the open day though.

I know I bang on about it, but the VX220 realy is as good as an Elise I've driven both, back to back, and I really did prefer the 2.2 VX220 to the Elise 111

Still not a Lotus though is it

There were a few places in the factory that still had notices worded like 'Elise/VX220', they are clearly very closely related.

Did the Vauxhalls suffer with foot-well corrosion like the S1 Elises did?

Dave, yeh you had to book tickets in advance. It was on Pistonheads a few weeks ago.

James, I would regret buying an Elise.... because it would mean I wouldn't be getting a Caterham, which will be much more fun

Ah, fair enough. Hadn't been checking Pistonheads as much as I used to (Too much work, too little time)
