Agreed. The V6 looks like a weekend runabout, but to live with as an only car may turn into a headache.

Re: Hunting for a Hot Hatch!

The whole point of a hot hatch is to maintain some practicality, if Clio V6 is a suitable car for you then its no so much of a HH, I'd put it in the catagory with the Lotus Elise ect...

Re: Hunting for a Hot Hatch!

Where'd you get that idea from? This isn't a 180k car were talking here it's £12000. For a lot of people that would be an upper limit not just a "ohh we can find 2k for an estate." Plus there is 2x tax, insurance, fuel, tires, other bills.

Sometimes you do talk some right ****.

For insurance purposes it was removed, I didnt realise it was mapped when I first bought it. All I knew was that it was rapid! But the garage didnt realise it was mapped until I went back with "injection check" flashing on the dashboard every few days. They then looked at the ECU and flashed it back to normal. Believe it or not it was better on fuel when it was mapped, id get around 32mpg around town and 37 on long runs. I now get about 35 on long runs and about 28-29 around town.

However it is much easier to drive now. Stopping and starting was a mare before as it was just that bit too willing to tear the road up!

I thought they were easy for that, simply approach the point-of-turn too fast and lift-off the gas, and HEY-PRESTO you've an instant 1-point turn.

My guess is its not going to be for an all round family car.. what i meant was that you coudl get something impractical, because if you cna spend 12k on a toy then you probably can afford a more sensible car

182 is as fast as the new one, and looks better imo... good little cars, v small though compared with lcr/ctr..

Having not driven a lcr i don't know, look good pretty much run of the mill.

Ctr i have driven, pretty quick, but if spending the dollar get the JDM import with the extra 25 bhp, plus its white and looks a joke.

Also I would consider a focus RS as its faster than all of the above.

Dont bother with a diesel, everyone is remapping diesels and its just not as fun to drive around a track as a petrol, and its just not a hot hatch is it.

Depending on what you really want to spend, you could pick up a GREAT Peugeot 306 gti-6 for 4k, and it would be mint. And still look pretty new if you got a 2000 reg one..

And would kick the crap out of the first two easily. Is very similar to the 182 albeit straight line speed is worse, but the drive is going to be much more involving, and its a nice looking car and theres not many about.

    What about the v6 clio?
REWIND !! what are you going on about ford arent hot hatches!! ford have produced the best hot hatches than any other manufacture! take it you have never heard of COSWORTH 2x4 and 4x4 cossies!! they would wipe the floor from any other hot hatch out there in std form!! also with the recent rs and focus st out and the arrival of the new rs in 2009 i would consider a hot hatch!! if you would like an st yh not quite as fast as clio 182/type r but only 1.0s init 0-60 which lets face it aint the end of the world, if you want to beat type r's 182 etc etc then go to tuning company jamsport who have a supercharged kit bolt on kit for the fiesta st which will give you in excess in 280bhp for around £3000 which is how much cheaper the st is than the other cars anyway! hot hatches are all about character and performance and not solely performance! if you want a performance car then a hot hatch isnt your answer an evo/subaru is your answer!!
