I shall let my saab be included on the basis it is old, and very much a bargain (imo, but thats more related to my fiesta being worth £250)

1991, 87k miles, cost me £350 + old crappy fiesta

Good:
Most electrics work
Has almost no rust
Has a new mot
Engine and the other mechanical bits seem to be in good condition.
Paint and alloys have very few chips/marks
Leather seats with eleccy adjust and interior is awesome
cruise control
Also has a nice smell, that I think is related to cleaned leather or something...

Bad:
Needs a service.. which I will be slowley DIY'ing (coolant, brake fluid, oil, filters = £70 or so in parts)
Needed tax (£99)
Needs 2 tyres.. but getting 4 anyway £200
Exhaust was blowing in 3 places.. (fixed myself for £30)
No radio (buying one for £55 + cable for £10)
Heated seats dont work. Only the drivers one has eleccy adjust (not broken! standard)
Heater fan only works on full. Unsure if aircon works (due to cold weather, cant really tell).

But once all of the above is fixed, it should last for a loooooooong time without breaking.

Here is my car, first one actually since I only passed my test thig year. Very good runner around London and very quick off the mark. Had it for about 6 months now and still don't get bored of driving it.

SilentDeath, try demisting the windows with the air con, you'll know if it works then That's if you can feel the pump engaging

its strange:
the aircon doesnt seem to turn on unless the fan is on & The fan only works on 4 becuase it needs a new resistor. The aircon button doesnt light up on 4, only if the fan is set to 1/2/3........ which dont work. On 4, the engine also speeds up/down/random...
Ive looked at the pully. im not sure if the clutch/inside part is suppost to turn when the AC is on, but it doesnt appear to.

And my rear window seems to be permanently iced up, at least on work days.

Re: HEXUS Shed of the Year 2007

Bah! nothing comapres to the mighty tank:

Volvo 850 Tdi auto

Good points:
heated, electrically adjustable leather seats with 3 memory settings on the drivers side.
Electronic climate control
Switchable sports/economy 4 speed auto box
Bluetooth car kit
Damn fine stereo
Cavernous boot.

bad points:
Stupid garage still can't get the tracking right - Back again this week.
Auto box warning light will flash up on dash - Box still works fine though
Same happens with the ABS and service light.
Drivers heated seat stopped working after Volvo did a safety recall fix (yup, that fixed it good and proper!)
heated wing mirrors don't work
headlamp wiper blades want changing.

Oh and it's still returning an average of 38mpg round the Milton Keynes racetrack after a mere 225 thousand miles.....

Bit of a bargain for the £650 I paid over a year ago. If I can be bothered to give it it's annual wash, I'll a bung a pic up!

Re: HEXUS Shed of the Year 2007

Mine definately qualify's,

L reg Ford Mondeo, 1.8 litre engine, it's in good condition mechanically with only 85K on the clock

However, the bodywork.....

On one side it looks like someone's used Polyfilla to touch up damage to the side door, the bumper is held on with cable ties (and yes, that was MOT'able!!), it leaks oil from time to time and headlights are *just* passable.

It's also that wonderful greenie-blue colour you only get on Mondeo's of that kinda age...

1985 Golf GTI mk2

Righto.

San Diego sun has taken it's toll on the paintwork a bit - but it is more silvery than it appears in the first shot.

But not too bad for 236k miles. All of about 700 dollars, and insurance was a fraction of what it'd be over here because 'it's only a small engine'.. by their standards

Guess you'd call it a 'sleeper'.. scared me witless for the first month. It might also have a 0-55mph time better than a bmw 330i . No way was I going to test the top speed though - partly 55 and 65mph speed limits are annoying, partly I thought 330i owners were probably better armed than me..

Re: HEXUS Shed of the Year 2007

Mmmm I most definitely have a shed...

1985 Polo C 1.0l (yawn, 0-60 is something like 30seconds or more. If you can get there .)

Good
It works

Bad
Some electronics started dying recently (back wiper, front water squirt).
It's old...
^ -> 4 gears...
Irratic tick-over without choke a little out, so it goes up and down in rpm and thus sometimes stalls ticking over (anyone know cure/cause? )
DIY stereo consisting of mobile + old PC speakers (...), I don't know the first thing about the radio (it doesn't have one) electronics, apart from a 12v cable I found around there.
About 25-30 MPG if you don't want to take an hour for 0-60
Can't go up hills in a decent gear with more than just me in it

But even so, I love it dearly!

No mods (unless you consider my uber stereo system). I hope to get a newer car sometime early next year (I have money to get a decent one now), or when this dies; whichever is first.

I was very suprised when i managed to get 115mph out of my 1.2 Skoda Fabia. In fact I was truly awestruck.

Thought I'd give it a go on the old 0-60 time lol. Timed it at 12 seconds, rofl.

Not sure if it classifies as a shed though, it's only done 20k and yes I know it's a Skoda...

Any Skoda Fabia is not a shed... yet. Give it 15 years of abuse and we'll see...
