    Problem with car stereo

Just bought a new car stereo, DIN JVC standard cd reciever.
Fitted it with no problem, sounds great, but whenever I take the keys out of the car, my EQ settings return back to default. I'm pretty sure that my settings should be able to remain after I take my keys out. I'm pretty new to the whole car thing, but I'm sure that I should be able to turn the stereo on aswell with the keys out?

I've got a '97 Corsa, if that helps too.
Anybody able to offer any expertise on the situation

there are 2 live connections - switched and fixed. your fixed live is not connected (or they're connected the wrong way round) so your settings aren't getting saved... yellow & red iirc (not sure which way round, but i'd guess red = fixed)...
