Bah- my father in law has a late (P-reg) Mk1 Mondeo TD (hatch, admittedly, not estate) and it handles fine. The engine couldn't pull the dick off a chocolate mouse until the turbo spins up at 2500RPM, but after that it goes fine. There is no way that any of the petrol engines could come near it for the round town and/or 60mph motorway cruising use it gets. We filled it up in France at the end of our latest booze cruise, and by the time we got home (~80 miles) the needle hadn't moved off the top of the gauge.

I'll have to make sure he changes the oil soon though- apparently it's very important to do it every 6000 miles.

just got rid of a omega estate 2.0 it was a great car. only paid £100 for it an did 2500 miles. all it needed was a £ 8 radiator from ebay. tip dont take your end of life estate to an auto brakers for the usual 50 quid, go to a scrap metal dealer like (sims) they pay £100 a ton if you take the wheels off. omegas weigh a ton an a half. i got £150 for a car i paid £100 for a year earlyer an kept the wheels with rather expensive 16" 225's if the tread is still good ebay to easy make another 100!

Gotta be a Scorpio. Ford's sofa in estate form.

And hey. You can't see it when you're driving it
