would there be any sign of turbo lag, or a stupid amount of torque steer, taking it up that high though?

Though I wouldn't count on it, I thought remaps didn't show up on diagnostic computers?

Oh, and nice Coco, wish I had the disposable income to run the likes of an S2000. Could probably squeeze it if it wasn't for the insurance (being 20 is a pain).

The RNS510 is very good, a massive improvement on the DVD based MFD2. My R32 didn't come with sat nav because at the time I ordered it the only option was the MFD2 which I didn't want to so I bought an RNS510 and fitted it myself.

I suppose I'll have to find the time to get my bluetooth installation done

There is a little bit of turbo lag but I was very impressed with how quickly the turbo came on song when I drove an Ed 30 a few months ago. As for torque steer, there was some but very, very little. There was so little that I would expect it to go unoticed by a lot of people.

If the Ed 30 had better seats, different wheels (all personal preference of course) then I would have been tempted, but I do so love the v6 grumble from the R32.

    Re: New car for Coco

burble- fair enough, I would like a GTI myself in a year or 2, but they just seem far too expensive compared to others. Although by then there should be a fair few over 3 years old

    Re: New car for Coco

I will admit that the high end Golfs are expensive, bordering on over priced but the R32 was the exact car I wanted so I'm happy. I assume it's the same story for CocoPops.

    Needs must Zakky

Needs to be a little more frugal than the Honda, a little more practical etc.

So... The GTI will suffice for 2yrs or so until I go back to 2 cars again, possibly an elise/vx/caterfield etc.

After all, its not a diesel vectra I'm not that slow yet.

On the Mk IV's the remaps are encrypted, not even VW can see them. I'm not sure if this is the same however for the Mk V, however it should be I'd imagine. I know for a fact the APR maps for the mk5 aren't invisible. I'd reccommend paying the extra for the switchable maps also, so you can switch it back to standard performance when you take it to the dealers for whatever reason. You don't want a VW grease monkey with a lead right foot thrashing it around the block and realising it isn't standard!

There's a mk5 community on Forums - uk-mkivs that would be better at answering any queries you have regarding remaps, power gains, etc.

Good choice on the car aswell.

    Re: New car for Coco

Better nip to shop to see what they have to say then

    @ dave..
It comes with half leather/half "gti tarten" aka Interlagos, heated front seats etc.
As I am buying a "stock" car, ie cancelled order, I don't get to choose the options. So..
it comes with the 30gb DVD playing, touchscreen satnav, 6cd changer, centre armrest, smoking pack(cig lighter and ashtray as opposed to a little plug cover for "12v accessories") and I think thats it.

Obviously it comes with the 18" Pescara alloys, where as the 18" Monzas are optional on the standard GTI.

Going to add cruise control as that is a £150 dealer fit option, they just swap out the indicater stalk and reprogram the ecu etc.

Can't wait. the £150 fiesta is fine, but I so want nice things again!
