    Re: Oil Question?

Untill the stick indicates maximum..which on most cars is 3 or 4 liters.. check level again after you run it since the filter will be empty.

    Re: Oil Question?

According to this website - either 3.5 or 4 litres: 1.6 Engine Info - Astra Sport and Astra Owners Club Forums

(Scroll down to "Astra G Only" - The mk4 was also called an Astra G)

Do you know the power output of your engine?

To be safe, you should check the owners manual in the car, this should give you the exact capacity.

Just be carefull, when its drained, unless you are you using forced suction, all the oil will not come out, so don't go ahead and put 4 litres in straight away. Also if you don't change the filter (but you should!) then oil would be left in that too. Best to put about 3 litres in, wait for about 10-15 minutes, check the dipstick and top up accordingly. Also once you have run the engine, give the oil enough time to trickle back to the sump (say about 10 - 20 minutes) and check the dipstick again

EDIT: Just checked Parkers, and the 1.6 Astra Sxi that was released for that registration had the 100PS engine in, so it looks as though the oil capacity of that engine is 3.5 Litres
