    What oil? Clio drivers?

Ok so I get in the car this morning and notice no dots on the oil meter at startup so I figure either the guage is broke or the oil lights about to come on.

I know theres a few clio drivers in here, but what Oil do you recommend? Its for a X plate 2000 1.4s 8V clio engine.

Preferably available from Halfords I can pick some up today if you got any sound advice.

I need to topit up anyway, need 5,000 more miles out of this before I get my Alfa, yus, I am stupid, but its a male thing, at one point in your life you have to own an alfa ia what I have decided

    cheers peeps.

What oil does it have in there now? If you are going to top it up you want to use something compatible. Maybe even the same.

You want a 10w/40 semi-synthetic mate, I'm sure Halfords will do there own brand, if not Castrol Magnatec is that viscosity. Your better off finding your local motor factor though, 5 litres should only cost you around a tenner.

No Sensei, i'm not kicking the mats to waste time, they have parted and I don't want to injure myself!

The oil in there is the original oil Renault put in and then the service oil on top, I am fairly sure its Elf they use.

    .....thanks m@

From what I remember, 4 or 5L of 10/40 semi-synth is only about £15 in Halfords, so you wouldn't pay drastically over the odds if you went there.

My car is well overdue an oil change, I've had a new filter at home for months and never got round to doing it. Anyone know the cheapest place to get Mobil 1?

I knew you would reply and I know you are first on my list to speak to when I do go for one. Currently looking to get a 51/52 plate, sub 40k miler 147 2.0 selespeed with all the bits. I thought the insurance was gonna be well steep but I found its only £150 quid more than my clio

its so gonna have to be done. Colour? Black, dark blue or Metallic DARK green not that weak pea soup coloured thing.

Going for about 8 grand at the mo.....amazing value for money IMO (8 grand got a momo leather interior, 2.0l paddle shift 19" alloys and a BOSE stereo for 8 grand is amazing.)

    How much?!

    *sigh*

They look fantastic in black, but 19" alloys? Either that's a mistake or it's had some work done to it to fit them, because 18" is the biggest you can fit without rubbing. But even 18" looks a bit too big, especially on standard suspension.

Important thing to think about is warrenty. If it has the 3 year then that's ok because it should still be covered. However if not, any repair bills WILL be expensive. The Selespeed gearbox has had a few software updates to cure problems, such as randomly dropping to neutral so make sure they've all been done. A full dealer service history is a MUST.

Also it should have had a cam belt change at the 36k service. This was originally meant to happen at 70k but they will not last that long. Also, any diesel sounding noise when cold starting can be atributed to the cam variator which can usually be changed under warrenty, but is best done when changing the cambelt and tensioner.

What's the insurance costing you, if you don't mind me asking
    Simon
