Does anyone else PREFER to use a seatbelt?

im not talking about the safety aspect at all, that will have been covered a million different ways by a million different people.

im thinking about the "one with the car" feeling you get from being strapped in. notice it when im quickly moving the car out of the drive to let another one in and dont put it on. i feel somehow "detached" from it.

really cant see why people wouldnt use them...

anyone else? its late and been drinking so might be rambling.

Yeh I feel naked when not wearing it... but I do drive without clothes on...

No. Mostly its just uncomfortable and it precisely positions itself in the worst places.

Can't do it.... even for a little bit - it just feels wrong. Of course, the new an bleats at me if I don't put it on anyway, which is trés annoying...

Feels wrong without it. I'm not sure it's about being strapped in, it's more to do with the fact I've worn one nearly as long as I can remember.

The belt keeps me 'stuck' to the car as though it's an extension of my physical self, I have the same feeling.

Not wearing one at low speeds is fine... but when you give it some beans and go round corners... I don't know how you could drive without one!!

Stops your from too much 'body roll' ( I mean you, not the car! ) which helps keeps your steering nice and smooth

I have to have it on. Just earlier on I moved the car off the drive and didn't bother putting on as I was just parking on the street and it just feels wrong.

Yeah fells really weird to not wear one, I often end up putting in on even to just shunt around the car park.

Any track driver will tell you the big thing you gain from being fixed to the seat is being able to maintain the right grip on the steering wheel. You don't want to be supporting your body against the steering wheel through your hands, arms and shoulders while braking hard, and you don't want to be hanging onto the wheel while cornering. Being strapped in tightly means you can maintain a comfortable, light grip on the wheel and are much better able to feel what's going on

Nah, on the bike you don't have one and your weight directly effects the motion of the bike. In a car I'd rather be able to sit back and drive without having to worry where the next corner is going to throw me.

And besides, you've all seen the video of what happens to Madonna when she fails to belt up, right?

Yep it helps maintain proper positioning for the wheel, pedals etc, and does feel "wrong" without it. Even if I'm just shifting cars around on my driveway it feels bizarre!

Whereas my dad doesn't put his on until he's started on his journey down the road, really infuriates me and I whinge every time! Lol

Being in a car generally without a seatbelt is weird, sometimes even if you are just sitting there not moving.

On the oter hand, I got used to driving the works van without a seatbelt as we were workinf on a private site and although we should have had one on, you didn't really need one (20mph speed limit too). It ten felt weird to put it on when you left site.

Oh and wit the GTI, you seats do a prtty good job of holding you in (they have been called anti-fat person seats in the past)
