A few actually seem to have left the stable, seems to lack inital pickup. Now, as my knowledge of cars is on a par with my four year old daughter's, what can I do to pep up the performance a little?

Put some fuel in it

(Yes, my car knowledge is limited too. As long as mine gets me from A to B and back again and is cheap to run, that's all I care about)

3. Chrome Pedals
4. Neon Lights
5. A Sub that can godeeper than the Marianas Trench

Changing the spark plugs, oil and oil filter is a start.
Fuel filter and air filter will also help ensure its breathing as easy as possible. If they've not been changed this century it should make a big difference.

I've had it fully serviced at the local garage, and the cam chain has been checked out.
