    Do you still enjoy driving?

I've been driving for probably 5 years now...

And it's getting to the point where I don't enjoy it - it stresses me out these days - as I'm constantly surrounded by traffic - be it in the city, or on the motorway - and people seem to be getting less friendly - they're less likely to let you through - and more likely to force you to move out of the way...

I don't know if it's me getting angrier or whether there's a real deterioration in driving "friendliness" / courtesy...

And driving in cities / motorways ALL the time is so boring - there are no hills in Liverpool, and no 'B' roads

    What do you think?

Re: Do you still enjoy driving?

OK, most of my driving is around either the M6 or Lancashire backroads and I still do enjoy it - and TBH, having a half-decent satnav's helped. I don't think people ARE getting worse, but I was down South at the weekend and ended up skirting the London gulag. The plethora of cones and variable speed limits and cameras and crap was just depressing as hell.

Re: Do you still enjoy driving?

I've been driving for around 4 years and in the past, I'd always disliked it. I hadn't taken my driving test until the age of around 21, just because I'd preferred public transport.

Now though, I've bought my own car and that changes things significantly. In the past, I'd always driven cars belonging to family members. I'd never been into cars, but now that I own one, I love it. For the first time ever, I actually feel the urge to just get in it and go for a drive.

That said, I do live on the outskirts of the city so there's plenty of countryside around the village - makes for a lovely drive in the spaceship.

I do not enjoy driving in the south on the whole.

I would much rather be driven than drive

Re: Do you still enjoy driving?

I still love it I think this is my 5th year.

After I had my crash (some will have seen the pictures lol) there was a little doubt as to whether I would enjoy it again, but I still do

I had to drive from home to uni and back again today, couple of hours in the car, and decided I wouldn't take the motorway so I could have some fun on the way

I think this is probably the next thing to try - sat nav - avoid all motorways it's been a long time since I've been on some good B roads. A couple of years back we were on holiday in Scotland, and there was one route I just kept going back to as it was so much fun

Anyway, yeah, I still love driving. We live out in the sticks, but with a handy motorway nearby, so I can have the best of both worlds.

Don't think I'd enjoy it quite so much if I lived in a city, and certainly haven't enjoyed my rare ventures into London.

I've been driving for about 8 or 9 years. Still love it.

    The MK5 GTI helps though

Oh, and driving up here is quite different to Daaan Saaaf

Re: Do you still enjoy driving?

I live less than 5 mins from the M25 and need to drive across one of the junctions on my way to college 3 times a week during the rush hour. Quite a lot of the time driving annoys me now, most people are either tailgating you or making you late for work.

I still drive my mum's car after driving for 3 years and my parents have actually told me I'm not allowed to buy my own car yet! So once I get out of the old 11 year old Polo I might start enjoying to drive a bit more.

Re: Do you still enjoy driving?

I hate it, I always have. There's no pleasure to be had on our roads IMHO.

It took me 50 minutes to travel the 4 miles to work this morning due to roadworks. This is in a small, rural market town.

I'm glad I can drive, I just don't enjoy it. There are too many people trying to get to the same place at the same time and usually too fast.

Re: Do you still enjoy driving?

I used to go to work an hour earlier than anyone else and leave an hour earlier to avoid both rush hours. Whoever thought of flexi-time was a genius

Re: Do you still enjoy driving?

Ive been driving 15 or so months now, and still loving it! Not liking the ever rising costs though

When going down to visit the other half in Exmouth I dont take the M5, I go down the A303 and at times its a wonderful road, fast sweeping corners, s bends the lot!

+ a few times ive been driving down there its been 1/2am so ive pretty much been the only car on the road!

Have yet to try it in the 200 though . . .

Re: Do you still enjoy driving?

Well, I always enjoyed it when I was out on driving lessons - most of that was done on A roads out of town, and some dual carrigeways etc in Aberdeen.

At no time did I think anyone was particularly nasty or in a hurry, and on the whole it was quite fun.

We'll see how I fare once I've bought my first car and am running about in it all summer to and from work!
