Well atm my Proton Person has factory fitted immobiliser thats it. That and the act its a proton
New car on Wednesday Zafira DTi think its just got factory fitted immobiliser aswell but heard thats its a good one.
Ooh - missed this last time around
306 Estate - err nothing, apart from factory fit alarm
The 'money pit' will have Q/R steering wheel, main 'kill' switch, switch on ignition and if it fits in the garage - 3 door locks... though as has been said, if someone wants it - im sure they could take it
Well i just have a cat 2 immobilser, though I wouldn't mind this security option fitted to deter hijackers: click here for the video and click here for the blurb!

Nothing but the removed hu facia on the 106. Kept it in the glovebox. Some #### broke in hoping it would be in the car and nicked the stereo. Now i keep the facia out of the car, but only coz i have free insurance on that. If they broke in with face off before they can do it again I suppose they might not steal it if its not in the car, but you never know.
I do hide anything remotely valuable, although i keep forgetting my phone in it when its parked on the drive at home.
Tough on mirrors, tough on the causes of mirrors.
i never leave my HU in the car, not worth the risk, if im parking somewhere away from people i leave the glove box open so they can see theres nothing in there and the parcel shelf on back seat is stood up.
I think the main deterrent with your car is that as soon as they start the engine they'd promptly crap themselves and pass out..Originally Posted by Eazieb

Reason why i left it there was because my mum uses my car too and she wanted to be able to listen to it. So to save on running around exchanging headunit facias we just hid it in the car. The idea of taking it off is that they dont break in in the first place. Can't really have the glovebox open as its not completely empty and you never know whether they will break in just for the cherry drops. And in the boot i have a toolbox, so i dont fancy leaving that in view either.Originally Posted by Russ
I've started taking the facia out again coz with the new stereo i get a free replacement if i keep the facia but the main unit gets nicked.
P.S. TiG, are you casing our cars or something

I have a Thatcham approved immobiliser (factory fitted), and a second after market Thatcham approved immobiliser. I also have an alarm with pager, but it's main function is to lock the doors and close the windows
I have a friend who leaves her car unlocked at all times, the thinking is "If they want it I'd rather they just took it and didn't f**k my car up".
Also, as Lowe said, if they want it bad enough they will take it. I used to know someone who had a VERY desireable car (Calibra 2.8 turbo 4x4 SE) and had a Cobra Alarm, two Trackers, and a cabin smoke alarm. He left it unattended for about 10 mins in a city centre at 9:30pm on a Saturday night and it went. He activated the Trackers and it was 2 days before they got a signal, the devices were still attached to the bare chassis on a dual carridgeway about 60 miles away.

leaving doors unlocked won't work - i had a series 2 landrover window smashed once by someone breaking in to steal a 2m piece of 10 year old coax cable. neither door was locked, infact passenger door didnt have a lock, neither window were locked, and were 'slide' ones, and the best bit, the rear of the SOFT TOP was rolled up!!!
if someone wants your car or something from it, they will take it. Nothing you can do about it. There are things you can do to try and disuade thieves, like leaving nothing in the car, crap old stereo, and various mods under the bonnet, like switching two spark plug cables, or finding a connection, and disconnecting, but only partly so it looks connected, or something that will let them drive about 100m then cut out with the horn on, hopefully in the middle of a street on a busy day... there are some very good ideas out there, but publishing the ones on your car (along pics on the other thread for identification) isn't one of them. paranoid? only when it concerns my car...

I strongly disagree, the problem is, it is illegal to do anything about it, there are plenty of leathal, or near leathal meathods of stopping car thieves, quite literaly, dead in their tracks. The problem is that in our liberal courts a thieves life is worth more than the protecting of our hard earned property from them, no mater that we took our entire life to save up for it, the law abiding way.Originally Posted by Nox
TASER International had a product I thought was a nice compromise. Their Auto Taser turned your steering wheel into a taser, try driving that car. Likewise there has been other products, knock out gas, locking the thief in an imobilized car.
A step up, a little TNT and a simple rocker switch, will virtualy guarentee no one will get away with strrling your car. Of course in our liberal courts, that is pre meditaded murder, as one Youngstown Ohio USA man found when he dug a mote around his new (twice prevously stolen) Trans Am, complete with draw bridge and wired the TA with 220 Volts making anyone who tuched the door handle the ground. He found his thief char broiled in the morning, still holding on to the door handle, and called the police. The car owner who had defended his property so well, was senticed to life. I do admit that was a bit overboard, but think the man never got to drive his TA, but home from the Dealer three times. That had to be fustrating. And on a serious note, we do need stronger laws to protect the property rights of law abiding people, and less the rights of thieves.
lol, thread revival again!!!!
so, how would you plan to stop someone towing your car onto the back of a low loader?
As I said, if someone wants you car bad enough, its gone matey. Low loaders aren't even an extreme way of taking a car these days either.

Holy thread revival batman!
Well i missed this one the first time round, and i missed it the second time round too! Third time lucky!
Ive got the Standard nissan anti theft system which is a cat 1 alarm immobiliser and locking wheelnuts. Where i live is quiet and peaceful, and where i work is CCTV'd and relativeley private. If i lived in a city flat block surrounded by chavs and worked in the city and had to park my car in a NCP, then i would be more worried.
As lowe said if someone is determined/organised enough then they will get your car sooner or later as my mated dad found out when he came back from holidays, they'd apparently got a big skip lorrie, and lifted his escort cossie over his mums morris minor and onto the back of the lorry, and then driven off! cant see imobilisers helping much there.
As for killing people that try to steal your car, i dont think thats a good idea really. Hurting them should be allowed, not killing, death is a bit too permanant.

Had a Toad CAT 1 system fitted to mine including a microwave proximity sensor to annoy the neighbours
Kept in the garage at night and outside my window at work during the day, always careful where I park because it's quite easy to break into and it's an obvious target.
I'm all for some pain dished out to anyone trying to pinch my car though, bring on the taser'd bodywork
My fiesta used to have a manual choke.... pretty much imobilised it if you didn't have months of practice.
