    It's awfully quiet in here...

So to break the silence here's some (poor) photos from a gathering of minds yesterday evening

It was supposed to be a Caterham get-together but it tends to be a general performance sports car gathering now, which is nice. The Westfield smelled wonderful from behind

Nope that's a Ginetta, very nice it was too. The Westy is the black 7-style car in pic 2

    Oh very nice

The Tiger club used to meet at a local pub here but they changed their meeting date now.

It's the first pub you come to by following the A4 from Hungerford towards Marlborough, the name of which has escaped me.

    'eek'! take your own methinks!!

I miss the Elise... a proper analogue driving experience, the way it should be... Still, mustn't grumble..

edit: Uncle bought a 7 a few months ago - hopefully drive it next time I'm home up north. Any pointers before I give it a drive??

Re: It's awfully quiet in here...

You need a pair of narrow shoes (race boots or the likes of Puma Speedcats are good), the pedals are very close together. The throttle will be super responsive, the brakes will be weighty but with an incredibly detailed level of feedback. They are tail happy if provoked but a doddle to control, you sit virtually right over the rear wheels so the instant it wants to break away you're well informed.

You'll love it - if you can last 3 months without buying one after your first drive, you're a stronger man than I!!

I'll take my Puma's then (can you be a petrolhead without owning a pair?) - only 5 on Autotrader (private) - is that how hard they are to find?

edit: oops - had 'leather' as a criterion... still, only 9!

They're not hard to find at all, in fact it's a bit of a buyers market at the moment too. The best ads are on Pistonheads. I've got the leather seats in mine and wouldn't want the cloth alternatives

I'm still waiting for Neil to finish his car, then maybe I'll see about breaking the Cav for an engine to put into something similar.
