It knew that it's end was near. In the four years I've owned it, I've never had a problem with the engine. I turned her around on the drive, ready to go to her final resting place and she developed a highly illusive ignition problem on the spot.
So she arrived kicking and screaming behind a transit.
Straight into removing everything possibly of use interior-wise for the new one.
And an RS bodykit please.... carefully removed with a large steel pole
We did have a huge problem getting the last bolt out that the rear diff was hanging off. Totally and utterly fused to the mounts on the rear beam. Better access was required.... my grinder provided it.
Suspension reclaimed, part of the drivetrain and numerous worthwhile bits... and she's left sitting on a bed of tyres
Sadly, all the bolts holding the front prop on rounded out. Pretty bloody annoying since it's almost brand new and prone to failure on the 4x4 sierra if it's driven badly..... so I could do with a spare or 6
Also one of the bolts into the bell housing refused to give in to 300nm of torque or impact, so the box had to stay as well. Front diff was also unclaimed as that requires the whole front end to come apart and it was getting dark.
Rather gutting to have such a limited amount of time to do it, but the couple of hundred quid from weighing it in will ease some of my concerns about the bits that got away.
