New Car *56k Warning*

Hi all

I decided after having the Grande Punto almost a year i was getting bored, and playing about with insurance quotes revealed i could afford to step up quite a bit.

So Punto + 3650 of my good old english pounds and i ended up with this:






A 318i Sport Auto.

Needless to say its quite a step up, and im delighted!

Oh and before any points out... yes the alloys are in dire need of refurb (which will be done in time), the previous owner was an obvious numpty at parking.

Very nice I'm toying with the idea of ditching my current car (and mods) for something similar...of course that is dependent on how much an M3 costs in the second hand market of course.

Very nice. How come you didn't get a 6 cylinder model though? The running costs won't be a hideous amount more

I would have very much liked a 6 cyl model, the fuel/servicing costs didnt worry me. But i was looking at another £800 insurance for just a 320i.

I wasn't initally looking for an auto, but after driving my dads A6 auto and then test driving this i decided it suited my lazy driving style

nice car, i have its older brother with the 2.8 lump, and dads got the 2.5 as well..

cracking cars and even the 1,8's will shift

Fair enough, there are times when I would love an auto, usually crawling through town traffic jumping from 1st to second etc.

What does it do to MPG, having the auto?

Atm the trip computer is saying between 29-30. However when i settle into a more normal driving pattern (not taking it for 50 mile runs just for fun) i reckon if i get 25+ ill be a happy bunny. Still quite a drop from my 43 urban i got in the punto!

Fair enough, im sure you could get it to the 30's if you try really hard!

I wouldn't call that a slush box, the BMW auto's are very responsive, in fact I prefer their autos to their manuals, they feel quicker. Plus that has a manual override if you knock the gear lever over to the left.

Ah fair enough, my only experience with an auto box was on a V70 and it was Awful.
