    Amethyst Honda go into receivership

Just found out today that Amethyst Honda in Gloucester, Cheltenham and Chippenham have closed its doors.

It's a great shame as the Gloucester branch in particular was the best main dealer I've used for price and service.

    Fingers crossed for the staff!

For anyone looking for Honda servicing and doesn't fancy the trek to Bristol I can heartily recommend Performance Autworks in Fairford.

We knew the auto industry was facing tough times, volumes are down across the board with Ford sending their Bridgend engine workforce on holiday for the whole of December being just one example, but this really does bring home the message - there's not much money about and peeps are holding onto it for all their worth!

In these dark times im not suprised.
People are depressed enough as it is......buying a Honda would make it even worse.

    OOoooo

It's frustrating as I know how good the Civic and CRV are. I wonder if the new Jazz had arrived sooner (and with better marketing) if this would have happened at all .....

Also hadn't realised there's a Honda dealer in Worcester for those who needed the info.

guys, the model range is not often the reason.

it's the sheer lack of punters right now

I think even cheap car sales are suffering, so I dont think this will be the last of dealers going down.

Its a shame really, but the way things are it doesnt suprise me! Roll on 2011 when they reckon all this will be over

Re: Amethyst Honda go into receivership

Oh dear, this is awful news a friend of ours bought a used jazz from Amethyst Cheltenham and I believe had a free first service next year, the staff there were very good.

Yes there's a Honda dealer in Worcester, they seem pretty good - the same guy took a new jazz on a test drive there and he had it for pretty much the whole day though they weren't as 'accommodating' (in terms of extras thrown in) as Amethyst.

In terms of the civic there were three of us during a test drive and I (in the back) didn't like how the front seats were planted flat on the floor and had no legroom underneath, felt rather cramped!!

you see, (not personal attack here chap) it's cheap prices and screwing dealers down that CAUSES the folding of the support network.

But you gotta do it anyway.

    Catch 22 .. big time

Re: Amethyst Honda go into receivership

Yeah, aweful stuff, I knew a few guys there over the last few years.
My uncle was in the process of ordering the new jazz (one with the huge sunroof!) when it folded and he got straight on to the dealer the other side of Bath and they refunded him and now completeing the order through there. I might be over there at some point to look at their used stock.

Hopefully someone sorts out the Chippenham honda soon but until then I dont mind popping over towards bristol

What happens to the stock of vehicles in this situation, will they be sold off cheaper or transferred to other dealers?

Re: Amethyst Honda go into receivership

I am reliably told the cars vanished off the forecort within a couple of days but customer cars are still trapped inside. It's the usual problem of mechanics being told to drop tools and leave half way through jobs and noone having responsibilty for the vehicles.
