There was an in-betweener: The 30th Anniversary came with 230bhp.

yamangman... may I suggest something for your new car?
Keep it clean.
I've seen three scirocco's now.. the first two were mint and they looked lovely. The third was pig dirty, and it looked squashed, ugly and lost it's charm.
The rear end, with no sun shine on the shape, looked like an elephant had sat upon it, and it kinda resembled.... a melted car. Like it had sagged.
But then a clean one looks, ... just right.
If need be, leave the front dirty, and just clean the arse end, cos it's a moose when it's dirty!

Dude... no way... the R32 has double the horse power than the GTI. Well the 2009 GTI comes with like 210? They suped it up, and they have a new GTI-R, but that's supposed to replace the r32. LAME! Although it comes with 4WD and 265 HP
Hmmm I love the pure facts that are getting thrown around . . . . .
R32
Engine Size: 3189 cc
Cylinders: 6
0-60 mph: 6.3 s
Power Output: 246 bhp
Valves: 24
Torque: 320 Nm 236 lb-ft
Top Speed: 155 mph
GTI
Engine Size: 1984 cc
Cylinders: 4
0-60 mph: 7.0 s
Power Output: 197 bhp
Valves: 16
Torque: 280 Nm 207 lb-ft
Top Speed: 146 mph
Can't be forgetting about the Golf GTI Edition 30 now
Engine Size 1984 cc
Cylinders 4
0-60 mph 6.6 s
Power Output 226 bhp
Valves 16
Torque 300 Nm 221 lb-ft
Top Speed 152 mph
So I make it when you compare that to the R32, 20 BHP difference.
I'll have a wild stab in the dark that the R32 with its bigger engine and the 4wd system is to heavy to make the most from the 3.2 V6?

The new GTI-R sounds like it's the Audi S3 with a VW badge - same engine, same 4wd...
if you wanna drive a pot of scrummy icecream mate.. it's your call

I really think it's fabulous, bit of a departure from cars I've owned in the past. Great turn of speed, excellent handling, interior is smashing, toys are all cool and intuitive. I'm just a whore for how it looks in the flesh though, pics won't do it justice! I'll take a pic and post it when I get some spare time.
