Very nice
I'd also like to add that if your going to keep oil in the boot, keep it well secured.......very well secured

Looks stunning mate just make sure you dont stall the thing!
Yeap, always keep 4L of oil in the boot. Nearly had a little spillage but nothing major yet
It loves Petrol at the moment, getting about 200 miles from the tank (£45). Still adjusting to the way I drive, its a big upgrade from my old Swift!
I thought I had it hard only just getting 200 (approx) out of £30 a tank in my Vectra !!
Nice car though mate, thats a big upgrade in every way from your swift.
I'd considerd buying one of these but the horror stories about melting engies and paper mache body work are seriously putting me of.
wut?
My mate abuses his whenever he is back in the country and it doesn't skip a beat. To be more accurate he drives it hard but gets a nice warm up and cool down period. Engine is good. Bodywork, it's survived the British weather while it's sitting idle waiting for his return. He hasn't hit anything so can't comment on structural rigidity.
Sorry, I've head a lot of horror stories. Lots of engines need rebuilds before 60,000 miles. Do a goodle search for rx8 forums and every one will have examples. An old mate had his engine need repaired. He got a reduced rate as a gratis from mazda but the reliability isn't great on the rotarys.
Yeah, I seen some of the early ones had problems with the engine effectively eating themselves. It seems if you keep your service history up to date and the worst happens Mazda will help out. There are alot of them about though so the problem can't be that bad.
Those engine problems are very limited and mainly happened on cars produced in the first couple of years.
Adapted my driving style now so getting an extra 40 miles out of the tank which is good. 2 weeks on and it still puts a smile on my face each time I start it up.
How is the car for short drives? Does it start up and stop reasonably easily or does it require a good bit of time to heat up and cool down? I'm getting pretty tempted if they're better built than I've been hearing about.
No problems at all, engine heats up in about 3/4 minutes depending on how far you move, in terms of cooling down it takes a bit longer. I've even started it, drove to pick up fuel 1 minute down the road and it started up again with no issues. They are solid from my 3 weeks worth of experience.
Thought it was worth a bit of an update. Loving the car in every way, even managing to now get 22-25MPG out of it in the city. Put it in for its 4 year service the other day which came to a reasonable £480 but then disaster struck.
Whilst turning right into a side street someone on a moped attempted to overtake me on the right hand side and hit my front wing! Luckily I was only doing about 5mph and they must have been doing about 10-15mph and didn't fall off. Still it did this damage to my car.
Gutted!
Ouch
Was the moped insured?
that sucks man, looks a nice car other than the new body modification

Yes thankfully. Whole process may take 12 weeks to sort out if everything goes well, I'll be getting a new wing and right door in the next couple of weeks. Funny thing is that when the car went in for the service and they looked for early signs of rust they found a few bubbles on the left door so they are replacing that too Mazda so I'm told by the service manager hate to see cars on the road with rust.
Is the new door under warranty Nick? If so that isn't a bad result as long as they get the colour match right - Silver is one of the harder colours to match
