    Car keyed

Someone keyed my Scirocco last night. Been quoted £380 provisionally from one place so far. Absolutely fuming. Might take a pic and see if any of you car enthusiasts know my best options for repair/what looks like needs to be done to fix it and how much I should be paying, if anyone is interested in helping me out.

    Re: Car keyed

Someone already posted something similar not that long ago here. Quote sounds about right, though several of us would just do the minimum required to keep it protected and wait until sale/special occasion/accumulation of more scratches and get it fixed then.

    Re: Car keyed

Some more information would be ideal. £380 is a lot to fix a 1" scratch but not a keying round the entire circumference of the car for example..

    Re: Car keyed

It's 18-20 inches. Nearside rear, really quite deep. It is on the rear panel only. The quote I got included the following:

    Strip & refit
OS QTR PANEL; OS DOOR (BLEND)
    Repair
    OS QTR PANEL
    Paint
OS QTR PANEL; OS DOOR (BLEND)

    Re: Car keyed

You are lucky ..well not .. ive had my car keyed several times and just to top it off someone put all my windows through, then the week after kicked off my wing mirrors! No i havent had a barney with anyone , the police have got the little/big? toerag , seems its his idea of fun on a weekend. NOT my idea of fun paying for the repairs. (six cars in total were done that weekend , luckily someone had CCTV and thats how they caught him)

    Re: Car keyed

tbh, £380 inc VAT for a VW paintshop to do a whole rear quarter panel is cheap.

£330 pre vat for the stripping of 2 panels, and for a perfect job, it SHOULD involve some very VERY good quality masking around the window glass, cos if it's anything less than a perfect job... it'll show, and might peel in a few years time.

Why is it needing blending to the other panels? I thought most paint shops could paint the perfect colour now, with only polishing needed?

A picture wouild be very helpful...... very large res if it's host-able Nuts

    Re: Car keyed

That sucks, people who do that to others really deserve a good hard slap and to have everything they own kicked about and scrathed.

Shop around, other places nearby might offer a smaller price.

I paid £420 for mine so £380 seems ok!
