as title how expensive are parts for the 147?
Depends what you need and where you buy it from. In the first 3 years 90% of things are covered by warrenty (worth noting, the exhaust isn't) so things are free. I have got the parts CD which has detailed diagrams, notes and prices for all parts available for the 147. I cna look some things up if you like, give me some examples
In terms of day-to-day running costs... quite high. 60 litre fuel tank which lasts me a week, servicing is expensive (24k at a main dealer is in the £300 range) and tyre wear is quite high (tho highly dependent on suspension and tracking). It also drinks oil, about a litre per 4-5 weeks of fairly hard driving.
I'm still pleased I bought it though
Depends how you treat it, and to a certain extent how it's been treated.
Italian cars have a reputation for being expensive and unreliable, they're not particularly either, they just like to be looked after. British people have a habit of leaving their car until black smoke comes out of the back before getting it serviced. Italian cars don't like to be poorly maintained, if you stick to the service intervals and look after the car it will be as sturdy and reliable as any other car.
I've never had an Alfa, i'm a Fiat fan, but the criticism I hear of Alfa's is that plastic trim etc. falls off or breaks. The dealers are quite often the same as the Fiat ones, cr@p and expensive so it's a matter of having a good reliable mechanic that you trust. As Jeremy Clarkson said yes the dealers are hopeless, yes the resale value is dire, and yes bits will fall off, but look at the view from both outside and inside and Drool.
Every day I see dozens of Golfs, quite often two or three that look the same in a line, never get that with an Alfa. Depends what you're after in a car.
