    Inherited Vauxhall Corsa... bodywork questions.

It's the latest model from 2006. The previous driver was a bit old and has had a fair few bumps and scrapes with it, the most serious of which is a long scrape all down the bit of painted metal bodywork that forms the door sills.

So... I was wondering how serious this was from a corrosion standpoint. Does anyone know if recent Vauxhalls have fully galvanised bodywork? I have searched long and hard on the internets for what seems like a fairly obvious question, but the internets have failed me. Basically, I want to know if I can just ignore it for a while, or whether it's better to fork out some money now and get it repaired.

Has the scrape removed the primer as well?

I'd always use a touch up kit to cover scratches, no matter how botch it looks in the meantime. But apart from that yes they've been fully galvanised for ages.

Yeah, I reckon it's removed the primer as well. It's a pretty nasty gouge that has bent the metal inwards considerably... I need to look at it again in better light, but I reckon it's probably best to get it seen to in a garage.

As long as you seal it, it will last. I had a stone hit the bonnet and put about a 2" dent into the bonnet and took the paint and primer right off. I got a quick chips away fix on it and they sealed it and the corsa is a 2006 SXI+ and it hasn't rusted as yet. That was over 3 years ago, going to get the bonnet resprayed when I have the money.
