because, if you want a rev counter then its because you want to drive a car fast, right? so an insurance company will see you as more likely to crash, becasue your wanting to get something that will help you drive faster. its the same as uprating the brakes on your car = more insurance

Adding a Tach makes your insurance go up ... thats INSANE! Its only a counter for god sake. Good thing most cars have them as standard

Fitting a rev counter will not make your insurance go up. If you ring up to check they will laugh at you.

its up to you guys but i know that insurance companys will use any reason they can find to void your insurance - if a rev counter or alloy valve caps arent worded into your contract and you hit a ferrari then you could find yourself with a very expensive bill for repairs. I wouldnt take any chances.

I've changed my windscreen wipers so they're not the same as the ones that came with the car - should I call Norwich Union?

Oh and I polished it twice over the weekend, so technically it's a brighter and shinier shade of red - I guess this needs declaring.

Can't be shinier than the way it originally was.

However, you may laugh, but I am renewing my parents insurance and decided to check if towbar is a mod. It does enable you to lug a trailer or a caravan so theoretically you could do more damage or just be more dangerous as its harder to control. Insurance said that it was fine, however i am not sure if that would be the case if an accident occured... If they can - they willl wriggle out of it.

think about it - if you crash into a couple of cars and do £50k of damage/personal injury then your insurance has to pay £50k. now if they can wangle out of that because you've something on your car which technically means you aren't covered - its in thier best interests to use this as an easy way of saving £50k. insurance companies are not stupid, they are not charities, like any other company they are trying to make a profit and you guys who void your insurance in some ways are thier favourite customers - the kind who pay for stuff yet dont get anything back..

In a situation like that they will pay for the other cars to be repaired.. but wont repair your own.
