The Shogun's pretty stable so long as you remember you're trying to stop 2000Kg of tank when it comes to slowing down

Both Sierras are 4x4, so they handle the snow better than their RWD counterparts. However, it's not a directly gear drive as I understand it so if you get too confident with all 4 wheels working it'll soon do a Capri impression. I've had the Cosworth V6 'chirp' its tyres in the wet....

Oh yes, I forgot to say. Make sure chains are well adjusted and double check them after a little bit of use. If they come off, they'll make holes in bodywork.

We didn't have a huge amount of snow over here in the east, the first day was fine. Next few days the snow turned to ice and un-gritted roads (like the outside line of the Norwich southern bypass) were VERY slippery. I managed to do the drive to work and back with no issues in our Zafira GSI, despite its mostly awful TC. Friend of mine though was still on his 1.1 motorbike, when he could get it out of his garage anyway. (Sorry bikers, can't remember what it is, other than fast)

my A4 was fine, lots of torque on the low end did mean it spun its wheels a bit the TC was decent.

Snow chains will help when you have a lot of snow and are driving on loose or loosely packed snow. They will not be helpful when the roads are mostly clear with icey patches. n those conditions, studded tyres would be your best bet. I know you've all had a little more snow than you're used to, but I'd be surprised if chains were really called for.

Lower your pressures and throw some bags of sand in the boot!

Not in Norwich. However, 25 miles up the road I had to drive the car through six to ten inches of snow. I was surprised how different it was when I was up the city last week.

Apparently the Ford Fiesta is so bad that these two thought it'd be a better idea to jump out of the car... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7MPRmOUxRMY

Re: Whats your car like is the Snow, mine is s£"%,but ordered some snow chains, any go

I saw the writing on the wall and thought it would be a good time to replace my tyres on my Polo 1.6 6N. they barely got through the MOT! was a very wise decision, I was making it up hills that others couldn't.

On one occasion during a bit of stop start traffic on the A4 I decided to take the back way home, this wasn't an original idea!
Had to squeeze past a couple other cars (Volvo S40, Merc S Class and a Vauxhal Astra) and being a cheeky monkey I was grinning and waving as I passed them.

I would have stopped to help, but was in a bit of a rush, besides I filled my quota of good deads for the day clearing drives for the neighbours and pushing a transit up a hill.

Stopping to helps not always the best idea, getting out of the car kinda kills your momentum and you could get stuck too...

9 Seconds does sound about right. Spedometers always tend to overread as well (usually 5% iirc), that combined with using a stop watch to time it really isnt the most accurate of tests.

You would be hard pushed to get a manual MV6 to 60 in 6 seconds, let alone the slushbox version.

Vaux speedo's are apparently about 10% out, altho on the RR in my old GSi it was showing a touch under 125 when it hit the limiter, the printout showed the max speed in test as 123 so mine was pretty much spot on, bare in mind that wheels/tyres can throw that out though.
