A version for those that aren't able to read the whole thing, like maybe those who don't have a spare hour

Re: Pay extra for 10 Reg?

Oops...not wanting to "stimulate" Saracen more , if my double glazing supply is following the exact same principle (ordered and deposit before 31/12, supply after) I suggest it is VAT rules and not a dealer offer. Virtually all scrappage deals have no further offer and as the new polo is in very short supply and high demand (god knows why, it's wasn't my choice) there are no deals....I did phone half a dozen dealers. I am getting another small discount as we buy our company cars from them. So further dealer or manufacturer discount is doubtful.

Yes Saracen, I know all about VAT in my business. This VAT change has caused us massive expense and disruption. The guidelines for us have been exact....tax point 31/12 or before = 15%, after = 17.5%....no interpretation or leeway or periods of grace. I spent a whole week discussing with my FD analysing, programming, and manipulating thousands of orders. And I always feel compelled to argue with the TV when adverts suggest "VAT held at 15%" which of course is not true.

Perhaps I'll do some more research so I can be fully armed when I tackle the dealer.

Well looks like Saracen was right . The extra VAT is being covered by VW until end of Feb. Dealer phoned today to say car was ready. Wife has decided to pay the extra and wait a week or so.
