Trying to source an HTC-compatible adapter for the car kit you can see in the second photo... not looking cheap

Some do a bluetooth adaptor for the cradle to convert the kit, often cheaper than a dedicated adaptor.
What make is the kit ?

When I looked at the car, there were no distinguishing marks on the thing.

But it APPEARS to be a Bury UNI CarTalk BUSINESS, thanks to some hardcore googlin'.

There's definitely no Hero-specific cradle. But what's not clear to me is whether I want a generic cradle, or a generic Bluetooth cradle - since the car has its own Bluetooth mcguffins, is there pointless overlap?

I thought it looked like a THB Bury, and they do make the UNI Talk&Take Bluetooth Adaptor which retails for about £70 and will fit on the adaptor in the car to provide an adjustable holder and I presume multiple adaptors for power leads so you can charge it too combined with a BT interface to the Bury wiring.

As for linking to the OEM BT gear i'm not sure, and also not sure if it would interfere having 2 BT kits in the same car ?

Well that's where it's confusing, I have no idea how this Bury thing hooks into the car's existing BT system...

... I *think* that the car kit is a Toyota rebrand of the Bury system. The cradle the previous owner's left behind has a Toyota logo on it, and no other logos. www.toyota.co.uk/bv/OwnerServices/HandsFree.pdf looks identical to a Bury System 8, but the "Toyota THF25" (or is it a 35? dunno!) is the least documented car kit ever ever ever.

    Aha!

    Found it on techdoc.toyota-europe.com

    It's a "Bluetooth Complimentary Kit"

Still trying to find a manual rather than just an install guide for mechanics...

Well, that's the first day, 307 miles on 28ish litres, and I think I'm starting to get used to the eccentricities of the thing. Certainly an interesting owning experience.

I started off pretty low, the average has been going up & up over the week.

That & I tend to floor it at the lights, which plays havok with the mileage.
