Hang onto it a wee bit longer and upgrade next year.

I went from a 1.1l metro to a 1.4l renault megane to a 3l mercedes E class and my premiums have been roughly the same each year, although I am over 25.

All sound advice which I do appreciate.

My dad is a mechanic, but they are probably the worst for keeping their own cars inners upto standards, that's not to say my dad neglected it when he had it, but he only did the essentials when needed, however, I'm sure if I asked for a good ol' service, he wouldn't mind.

Does a general service cover most of the things that could give it a bit more life or should I be asking him to do some other things too?

    I appreciate the advice here

    General service.

Pay extra attention the HT stuff if you're after it's best performance. Sparks/coils/leads are often neglected.

I tend to find that a good clean up around things like throttle bodies does a lot more for a cars performance than a lot of modifications.

I'm not familiar with the corsa year/model designation - what year is yours bud?

if your dad's a mech, he'll probably cover it all under a general service, but oil, fuel, air & pollen filters should be changed, new plugs & leads and perhaps, as suggested above, a quick glance at the TB to check it's condition wouldn't hurt.

Check your tyres too, worn or wrongly inflated tyres can hamper performance.

It's an 03 model (Corsa Active).

I'll give the tyres some air tomorrow, it's been a while since they had some. And I'll get onto my dad when it comes to the service to make sure he covers it all. Thanks

Re: Corsa C 1.0 A bit more umph?

If its the 3 pot one take a look in the ~1.5'' breather hose that runs from behind the injector and clean out all the gunk if there is any. My sister has a 53 plate 3 pot Corsa, and that started cutting out a while ago due to that hose being full of cr@p. Although we live on an island, so the car was only doing short (ish) runs, one that is doing long runs on motorways for instance shouldn't have that problem.
