Any good? specifically the 1.1 / 2004 plate.
I was all set on buying one as a little run around, but after reading about the "cut-out" problems I've been put off.
Any thoughts?

Can you get a 107/aygo/c1 instead? Or maybe a fiesta/corsa?

Thanks very much guys - thats off my list now then
Any others you can suggest to look at? First car so has to be a lower insurance bracket and a smaller engine.
Cheers
Ade - have you got any NCB from your bike? If so, Tesco will convert them to car NCB for you - how I managed to get my Civic insured for reasonable money
Could be, I'll run some quotes through confused and see what it comes up with.
I'm not too worried about insurance though. I'm moving house in a few weeks and the postcode for my new area is coming in at around £600 cheaper in some cases. That's gave me a bit more cash to play with
OKiedokie
Hyundai i10 - best gearchange in the class apparently, fun to drive, economical - should be able to get one still within warranty.
Renault Twingo - nippy, but a renault
Honda Jazz - reliable, but expensive
Skoda fabia - refined, bit dull.
Seat Ibiza - economical, good to drive. Very stiffly setup though.

Now I know I'm probably going to be shot....but what about a Ford KA...and yes, I'm aware it may be considered a girlie car, but their price:age:mileage seems to be pretty good on autotrader. Insurance is also low and it's only ever going to be used for a run about.
Looking into the others above now. Think my budget is at about 3.5K (not including insurance), although I'm starting to see that at 4K I could do a lot better for my money.
Ka's are fantastic cars to drive, and for 3.5K you're looking at a decent spec as well, infact the top spec Luxury model would come in on budget with under 40k on the clock.
What about a Corsa SXI? Cheap insurance, good ecomomy and also has a bit of poke (as much as you can get from a 1.2 engine) and plenty about.
"I've heard there is a common problem with this item from forums" - If you read some forums they believe Elvis was abducted by aliens, doesn't mean it's true.
Really trying to find one due to the extra boot size, but I am just finding the KA's better for the money.
Just found: http://www.autosalesgroup.co.uk/used-cars/?cid=3979
But I've seen 05 KA's with less mileage on for about the same....Aghh

Is also close to me, any comments?
1.9 I think will hammer the insurance for me sadly. What's the kind of mileage I should be looking for?
