Could do worse than a V50 though! Last time mine was in the body shop I got a corsa with an asthmatic engine and some of the worst seats I've sat in. Not a pleasant 2 weeks.

Got hit from behind so it looks like I will need a new car soon as I suspect it's a write off
Looks like it's Cat D according to the body shop today (approved insurer, said it wasn't even worth doing a proper quote as the boot is crumpled up on the inside but they can pull it out) so got to sort out getting the money for that and getting the once over by a proper medical professional instead of a quick once over in A+E as my shoulder and arm has been getting pins and needles all day pretty much
And for those concerned..... yes my neck is clicking
A Corsa? *wince*
I'm sure it could be worse although I find the V50 is cold, uncomfortable, the kids booster seats don't fit properly and the aircon controls are too close to the gearstick so I keep knocking random heating settings on whilst driving along
Still, you starts and A and you ends at B and it's only for another week.
That's 1 week for the insurance inspector to bother turning up and decide the work can be done.
1 week for a part to turn up from Italy that couldn't be ordered until the insurance company gave the go-ahead.
1.5 weeks of actual work.
Still, I'm impressed with the way the Alfa protected my wife. That was a 40mph road, and I don't think the bloke that hit her slowed down much :O
It's rather long at the minute (based mainly on cars I can go look at locally currently)
I DO need to try each car that I can fit in each one, quite tall and a bit limited on movement atm so the shortlist is:
Cars to get a loan to help buy (due to the cost)
Honda Accord 2.2cdti (04 onwards)
Honda Civic 2.2cdti (06 onwards)
BMW 1/3 series
Seat Leon/ibiza FR TDi/Cupra TDi
Cars I can get straight off pretty much without having to get a loan to cover the cost (and no need for an insurance payout, as in I could buy tomorrow if it was the right price)
Seat Leon Cupra 1.8t (2001 or so)
Mazda 6 2.0d
Ford Mondeo tdci
Honda civic type s (old style)
Audi A4 1.8t (2000)
Alfa 156 2.4JTD (2001), £2200

Wouldn't touch our local dealer with a barge pole either, no decent independent garages though? They are the places to go to, tend to be run by enthusiasts who really know their stuff.
Everyone says that though, which is why they are so cheap
My 2.5 V6 166 is registered early 2000, immaculate at 92K miles on the clock. Worth? About £1500.
Difficult to find such Momo leather lined reliable luxury for less. Fun on roundabouts too
Perhaps I have been lucky. This is my 4th Alfa, the wife is on her second. Perhaps I have been very very lucky!
lol, French cars do that sort of thing.
I once borrowed a Clio from my mum whilst my car was in for servicing, and the throttle return surrendered. With the "sporty" engine it took a while to notice it was stuck on wide open throttle My dads Laguna used to frequently immobilize itself like it was in a sulk. His Espace engine just kind of detonated in the town center in morning rush hour, not an experience I think he enjoyed. They both drive Vauxhalls now
Been tempted by jap cars, I seem to find German cars uncomfortable to drive as well as not very good value.
Well I have a seat Ibiza (09 plate) 1.4 as a hire car
It's pretty fun, almost too small for me.... but fun
