Any change in Used car prices - North South divide

Hi All,

I normally live in London, but am working in Manchester for a month or two. Out of curiosity, are there any general/average differences in second hand car prices from region to region? Ie, are cars any cheaper up north, than in the south east?

From my experience there does seem to be quite a bit of price fluctuations, but they seem more regionised rather than just north/south. At the end of the day no two cars are exactly the same so warrant different prices, so when I look for cars I tend to look on a national level.

Yes they are, just have a shifty at the North East too, the prices are quite a lot cheaper, Guy came up to get his S14

yeah, definately a bity cheap up north.. but not in Scotland.. often strong money in Scotland

I had a look around Manchester for a similar age/spec A4 to the one I paid £2500 for, they were £500-1500 more expensive (mine has about half the expected mileage for it's age), so there is a BIG difference, the money saved could easily justify a drive up + hotel if you had enough or a range of options

Best area to try near Manchester is a bit further down the M6, around 17/18/19 area (Sandbach/Middlewich) it's the southern most part of Cheshire bordering on the northern most part of Staffordshire, and kind of a forgotten area. We got both our current cars from around that area, better cars, prices and deals IMO.

i got back up to Yorkshire to look for cars, usually quite a bit cheaper but also because there are people there who i know i can trust for advice and suggestions.
