After 3.5 years of faithful service, I finally did a deal on a new car last week.
Found a dealer willing to give me £600 for my old Vectra, which was shall we say starting to look like it had crawled out of the nearest scrap yard. Bumpers scratched to hell, roof rusting away, hole in the panels under the drivers seat letting in water like a sieve it was !
Frosted up, from the inside, boot lid rusted right through, I suspect that car is destined for the scrapyard !
Anyway, I spent days looking for something I liked.
I took a Kia Rio out for a test drive, but found it a very gloomy car inside, it was sort of very chincey and twee, really not my sort of car at all, I think it was that horrid cheap looking unforgiveable dull dashboard and equally drab interior that put me off it, not to mention it's previous owner had smoked in it like a train.
I then went to view a VW Passat, which I was very keen on, till I found out it wasn't as advertised. I was asured it was a 130 BHP 6 speed gearbox model, it turned out to be a 105 BHP 5 speed model, so left that one alone.
However, after coming to the conclusion that I don't do enough miles to warrant buying a Diesel car, and not being able to find a decent mondeo TDCI that wasn't priced at 6K I've bought myself a Nissan Almera 1.5 SE, 46k miles on a 54 plate, Ice Blue, 1 owner from new and fully dealer stamped all the way from new. It's got plenty of kit on it too, which is nice
I'll post some pics tomorrow, but I'm very happy with it, I know it's not the Hexus choice of motor for some but it's not too big, not too small, got enough power to keep me happy and isn't drinking as much fuel as the old Vectra did.
