99g of CO2 per km

So the last government has decided that cars emitting CO2 are evil.

As such they shouldn't tax cars that are all wubbly for the environment, no ved, no congestion charge, sod all company car benefit. So obviously my company is INCREDIBLY environmentally conscious and knows that its only CO2 which is bad, and so wants one of these.

I've had a test drive with the VW Blue Motion, the Seat Ibiza and the Citeorn DS3.

I think the DS3 is the best of the bunch, but wondered if anyone on hexus had owned them or just knows better.

Not tried any of those, but don't forget to also look at Seat Leon 1.6TDI CR, Octavia greenline 1.6 TDI CR, golf bluemotion, mini cooper D, A3 1.6TDI, Fiesta Econetic 1.6 tdci, Fiat 500 twinair. etc.

I'd take a guess that the Mini Cooper D is probably the best of the bunch to drive, while the Octavia or A3/golf are the most refined.

I didn't think the mini was actually available yet, the Leon I'd sooner just have a smaller car.

I've driven the Ibiza (had a hire one at the Haloween lan last year), Salazaar has one too, nice cars IMO (Polo is based on the same car so arguably better value if you aren't paying for it)

Ibiza was nice enough for a long journey, did 400ish miles in a weekend and was ok, little bit cramped for me though

The thing is I preferred the handling of the DS3 which surprised me. I'm sure the designer wasn't french, he can't have been.

Sod the 99g. Go for 129g - the 3 series beemer Efficientdynamics. It's a non-rubbish efficient car!

It is indeed, the Ibiza is a poor mans Polo, which in turn is a poor mans A2 given the VAG lineup

It was functional, but given how long the gearstick gate map lasted (5 minutes on a car with 35k miles) I have issues with the quality, but the Polo should be solid enough

13% benefit in kind for the sub 130g cars.

Also I would wonder what would happen if the ECU was re-mapped, I'm fairly sure thats all they do on these 99g jobbies.

But lets not forget as a cyclist, I'd turn to stone entering a BMW dealership, and I'm fairly sure everyone who works at an Audi dealership is a garry glitter type.

Apologies in advance, but the problem is that it's still a BMW. BMW drivers have a reputation (not a stereotype) to maintain.... If you are one of the few BMW drivers who are "well behaved" on the roads please don't take offense, but you would be in the minority.

Most of the complaints leveled at "BMW Drivers" are the same complaints leveled against most fast(er) car drivers. The majority of BMWs fall into the fast(er) camp.

I wouldn't let other peoples opinions bother me, after all, these are the same people who are undoubtedly all wonderful drivers

Nah I don't agree. Other faster car drivers can use indicators and know what lane control means They just have there own foibles (Audi's don't know what stopping distance is for example - I don't count because an A3 isn't really an Audi although people think it is from the front and seem to like jumping out of the way anyway).

Though by far the worse driving I encountered in the last week was a male youth in a 106 rallye. Seemed to be treating the road like a race track and other cars as just mobile chicanes.. and he possessed the observation capacity of a cross-eyed opossum (attempted to swerve around the outside (left) of me at a roundabout.. only to nearly crash into the car in the left hand lane that I was passing..)
