For instance, I showed up at a Jag dealer in a well-used 10 year old Granada, worth about £1500, and said I was thinking of a Jag. I chatted to the sales guy for a while, and then we went for a test drive, but I told him I'd want the wife to try it before we made a decision. We made the arrangement for the second test that next weekend, and when we got there about 1PM, he tossed me the keys and said "We close at 4pm today, please be back by then". He didn't conclude that because I showed up in a cheap old car, wearing tatty jeans, an old t-shirt and trainers, that I wasn't serious. He was right not to assume that, though in the end, I bought a BMW M3. New.

Judging by Saracen's posts my guess would be exactly the opposite. I believe he's a courteous driver who prides himself on good driving etiquette. I believe he would worry about an incident, a week ago, where he forgot to indicate left when entering a roundabout!

    Re: Moral Dilemma

Not sure I understand why this is a 'moral dilemma'? Surely this is just about whether it is worth asking?

Now, if what you meant was whether you should TWOK the Jag...thats different!

I'm not quite that considerate, but thanks for the thought.

I know where leonkehoe is coming from, though. You certainly don't have to be driving a fancy, high-ish end powerful car to drive like an idiot, and I've seen some right plonkers driving old clunkers that would struggle to reach 80 if they fell off a cliff. But, sporty cars do seem to encourage a certain arrogance, and BMW seem to have more than their fair share of culprits. I'm not one of them.

The indicators work fine on Audis though - it's the bumper magnets that you've got to be careful of..

And when they flash you.. it's just cause we're trying to put cruise control back on and missed

    Re: Moral Dilemma

Whoops, I forgot about this. In the end I didn't even get a passenger ride, due to some unfortunate circumstances on the Friday and a killer hangover on the Saturday. There's always next time- maybe I'll pull my finger out and go and visit him in Yorkshire where I daresay the roads are more suitable in any case .
