    Do you struggle cleaning alloys?

    Found this stuff PICCIE

It's made by Tetrasyl but marketed under 'Carplan'. And it's fantastic! I have tried so many products so as to try and avoid the toothbrush scrub. And till now nothing really did what it said.

You literally pour a bit into the supplied cup (actually an aerosol lid!) then take the brush, which is rather like a shaving brush. And just lather it up on wheels - no scrubbing at all! All that burnt on brown brake dust just literally dissolves. Even Renault couldn't get alloys back to new when they valet it, this stuff did!

If you see my wheels HERE you'll know why they're a pig to clean.

Check before buying though as I dont think this is suitable for bare ally, only laquered.

I've got some of that stuff after I sent Charlotte down to the local motor shop.

Bit scared to use it really because I've got a few scuffs on the rims - looks like powerful stuff - likely to disolve the wheels or something

On the subject of Valets, any idea how much they cost?

Having a hell of a job getting the grime and smokey smell of the previous owner out of the mini

I use autoglym alloy cleaner... its not that good though... takes a bit time and effort to clean all the spokes on my OZ Super Turismos....

My mate has recommended Wonder wheels before... so im gonna try it one day.

Got some bad staining on my fronts at the moment after I managed to dump about a quater of a brake pad on the wheels after not cleaning them for 3 weeks! I did have people telling me how nice graphite wheels look on the car though

Will be popping by Halfrauds on the weekend methinks

Wonder Wheels is fantastic stuff, been using it for a while.

However - do NOT use it often. It's there as something which you should be using once every 6 months at the most. It's highly corrosive, hence why it's so good. I had some disc coating mixed in with pad dust stuck on my rims for 4-5 months and NOTHING would shift it. Wonder Wheels moved it in one treatment!

Just be careful with it guys, once you've got the crud off keep them clean!

I was recommended to use the AutoGlym Super Resin Polish on mine, works a treat... after all it's just a lump of metal with silver paint and clear laquer, same as the bodywork.

After washing the car I wash the wheels and the grime just slides off, then put two or three coats of Resin Polish on, job done, effort minimal. Did notice after I hadn't cleaned them for a good 2/3 months that a couple of black specs didn't come off, used the Colour Restorer, came off with little effort.

The best thing for extra shiney rims, is to jet wash them and put a bit of elbow grease in, then polish them, grime simpily falls off next time.
    that's the chicken!!!

or you could buy the Auto Glym Alloy Wheel cleaner, spray it on the wheel, leave for upto a minute go back put the hose on it and hey presto the wheel is as good as new in under 2 mins

    Sounds good Grey!

PS, Now we've had some rain I can report wipers seem to be much better after Renault had it in. So they CAN up the sensitivity!

    Right, back to topic...

Just used this WonderWheels stuff- picked it up from Halfords yesterday.

Amazing stuff - can't believe the difference it has made to my wheels, as Lowe says, this is some seriously acidic stuff that obviously shouldn't be used too much, I'll keep it safe for a while

Hey Guys, this stuff is really good, BUT only if your wheels are really bad.
Don't use this stuff regularly it is to strong, and will end up damging your rims. Use it to clean them up then switch to a non-acidic cleaner. Both Meguiars and Autoglm make some approriate stuff.
If you want to make sure your rims stay clean add some wax/protectant, I am currently tryin out Wheel Wax, so will tell you how it goes in a few weeks.
