I know Vtec conversions are popular in cars like the MINI etc. although in an ELISE - there lovely cars as they stand!
G4 PowerMac - Tiger 10.4 - 512MB RAM
MacBook - 2Ghz - 1GB RAM - 120GB HDD
Rotel RC970BX | DBX DriveRack |2x Rotel RB850
B&W DM640i | Velodyne 1512
They are yeah, but imo for what they cost they just ain't quick enough compared to some of the other cars in the same price bracket. Not as crazy as the german company that puts twin turbo audi v6's in elise though........
Sorry, can beat that...
head here:

click on B&D Esthi, then click on English if you want to read about 235 bhp in an elise, then if you think that sill isn't enough, read the next line about 420bhp... Its got an audi rs2 engine in there...

Ouch, That 420bhp version, 0-60mph in 3.75seconds, and a top speed of 305kph....
Yummy and my goodness it will stick with these on.....
225/25 ZR 18 front
265/30 ZR19 rear

Imo, that'd be better than a VX220 anyday, as from what i've heard/seen a normal 1.8 Elise would own a VX220 Tubby on a track, due to its handeling, but obviosuly a VX220 is faster in a straight line.
Looks at the VX320, points laffs
There's a 320?Originally Posted by [GSV]Trig

but the thing that amzed me about the latest Lotus was that thr Toyota lump went in it....no doubt a great engine, but you'd have wanted a VTEV Honda from the start.
Politics, ownership and links.
What I want is a VX220 with the 1.9 CDTi 16v 150 engine in......
then you'd all be sorted

Nah that was a diesel powered concept made of carbon fibre iirc
Hmm there was some rather nice Vectra with 1.9L diesel engine with twin turbos' configured in parallel, one small for low revs one larger for more high end.
Basically making the torque curve stupid. 300+lb/feet of torque across the whole engine and 250bhp+ and still does 40mpg ish!!!. (Figures from memory so might be a bit out....)

all the above right
The VX220 had a 1.3 CDTI (like my Corsa) boosted to big boost and then driven flat out for 24 hours.....
average was over 140 mph , INCLUDING stopping for fuel and driver changes
Then...in TOP SPEED trial it did 160 mph
and then out on the open road, in an economy test, it did 111 miles per gallon.
And no...I dont have one
