    Oh dear oh dear....

My mate has just sent me this picture. All I can say is.. "what.....?"

The blue car you can see buried in the fence started it's journey almost round the corner from where the picture was taken. That house is at the bottom of a very small cul-de-sac, so you can't go fast in there. Period. How she managed it I do not know, but the old dear who was driving the Micra doesn't remember anything apparently. Frightened the life out of me mate, who was in his bedroom at the time (the window under which the Micra's parked ) Some people are just a danger to themselves.

Compulsory yearly eye sight and driving test re-sits for the over 55's anyone?. And they reckon young people are a danger on the roads...

Well, if they parked their Polo there to start off with, then their driving is as bad as that old dears who just ram raided their garden...

in these situations they generally mistake the accelerator for the brake, then press harder when it doesn't stop.

there should definately be more stringent tests for older drivers, even make them re-sit the test every few years, some of them are absolutely lethal! there are people on the roads today who never even took a driving test and it shows! i would avoid being driven anywhere by my grandad because i don't feel safe with him at the wheel, and he is nowhere near the worst of them, some of whom you have to wonder whether they can actually see further than the end of their bonnet! not just eye sight though, slower reactions too, and then the one's who have gone loopy!

Actually I think you'll find most elderly people just drive hideously slowly thus having no chance of causing an accident. And a lot of them are actually very competent drivers.

my gran has a licence, yet she has *never* sat in the driver's seat in her life - she was given a licence during the war because they thought she needed it, but she never used it.

In every situation you will get bad apples and good apples. I saw a old-granny roast her 1.3 micra away today from a standing start. Was quite impressed
