    Yes they have done quite a nice job with that engine and I look forward to trying one, but then it is replacing a 4 pot that I didn't like so no real loss. FIAT/Alfa seem to have gone straight to 2 cylinders, not tried that yet but I suspect it will be an odd experience.

    My Alfa V6, in the modern engine range, is replaced with a turbo 4 pot. The 4 pot is more powerful and has better fuel economy. But long term, it has an awful lot more to go wrong on it, and in the short term I lose the lovely V6 burble noise and the smoothness of lots of cylinders. In terms of pushing people into more economical cars, it has me eyeing up that Masarati I always fancied in which case it won't have helped much
