More luck than skill TBH. Still, enjoyable to watch.

He was doing the right things though, just see in the slow motion replay, the way he was steering into the roll. If i was starting to roll, although i know what needs to be done i am not sure if i would've had the composure to do it. I am sure most people would have rolled it in this situation.

He may have been steering the correct way already as he was oversteering, damn lucky and a nice video.

Maybe on the first part of it, but he then conciously corrected it the other two times.

I think the luck he had is the kind that a certain Mr Shooemaker has. He seems to have all the luck - but you have to be bloody good to have that luck. His wheels did not turn in the right direction by luck. The fact that his car gripped at the last moment may be luck, but the fact that he made all possible to let it grip is not luck.

Its like calling a headshot in a game lucky even though the person was aiming for the head.

When it all hits the fan, and you're flat out, if you're good you've probably done stuff similar hundreds of times and another one is just a split second, and you're off again. Have sat next to people in rallies that have been closer to death than that .

And the luck bit is just as important as the skill bit.

But if he was a normal punter, with no race experience, it would be over the edge....

look at the gear change down, just when most mortals would get out and cry......the clutch was in and the gear lever was moving before the car landed...he simply didnt know what gear he needed cos he didn't know which way he was facing soon as he knew which way was "forward" the power is in and the car is gone

Mind you, the ones you see in the Paris-Dakar are nowt like Mum's 4x4 Tesco Trolley.... they've got proper transmissions, with hi-lo ratios, diff locks and all that, and actually are nice quick motors... wouldn't have a standard variant, but I'd like one of those PD monkeys.... and they take a right beating... saw one flip over 4 times, it had no bonnet and there wasn't a straight bit on it.... the guy just found a gear and booted it away again magic....
