i dont plan on speeding in the least, my mate does it all the time and sometimes he scares me royally when he goes way too fast down narrow lanes, its just you only need to get flashed twice as said (6 points) and they take you liscence off you, and make you retake your driving test, and no no do i want that to happen after trying to pass for yonks
Well don't speed and it's a non-issue. You can't get flashed if you're not breaking the limit.

I thought it was one flash is a warning, two flashes is 'a letter with fine and points is being mailed out' message?

And Oakey said it all mate, don't speed and you won't get points and have to re-take your test. If you don't wanna drive the 10k every year within the limits of the law, then perhaps get a train?

Well there was nothing to warn me about. I was doing 25 which is what i always do past that camera... I think it was just faulty or summing.

its not just driving at a sensible limit, ill be driving down A roads to uni, which are 60 limits, but they tend to suddently go into 40's, even tho its the same road and not a lot have changed to cop you out

ok, i guess ill need to learn where these are for the time being to make sure i dont get stopped, but my mate got flashed by a camera

belive it or not, it was in a 20 zone, and the camera was at the bottom of the hill, he was in 3rd gear and not even accelerating, his foot was off the pedal, anyway he saw it and breaked, but still went thru too fast :\

If the coppers round here catch you with it on, they give you a producer and will issue a 3 point warning and a fine. I wouldn't do it, however a snooper is legal "GPS purposes" they can't pull you for that.

I'm pretty sure if they were going to get arsey about it then using things like that could be covered by some grey area in a law somewhere or other...

Only the very oldest Gatsos do that, all the rest do two flashes whether they're loaded with film or not. Having said that, apparently only 1 in 6 is loaded with film at any one time, although it varies from area to area. I think I've been flashed once (because I hadn't realised that the road went from 40 to 30) and nothing became of it.

There's usually penty of warning. If you're concentrating then you should see the large speed signs in good time, I can't think of any road I've been on where it suddenly went from 60 to 40 without prior warning.

No crap, that's what happens when you go downhill, you gain speed. and 3rd gear in a 20 zone?

whats wrong with 3rd gear in a 20 zone ? ive been driving around fine before at 20mph in 4th gear with no stuttering, my cars fine with it, at 20, id definutly be in 3rd

and of course, you do gain speed goin down hill, think its just harsh, it could be the hills fault speeding you up, i mean he didnt accelerate, only breaked and he still got done, he wasnt speeding, infact he was just trying to slow down

Seen plenty up here first you know yer in a 40 is when you pass the 40 sign and they tend to be the small signs to so you dont see them that clearly from a distance. And of course right after that 40 sign is a camera. Go Figure.

straight after a 60 zone theres a tiny little 40 sign, followed by a camera

if were doing it properly, we keep out eye on the road and miss em

I guess we're lucky here, most of the signs are quite large

As for 3rd and 4th at 20 and under...erm.. I've only driven 4 cars but none were very nice in those gears at that speed. Wouldn't you find accelerating in 4th from under 20 rather... awkward?

1.3l and its good for driving at 15mph in 3rd, and 20mph in 4th

saying that, its also fine at 60/70 in 4th...kinda weird gear ratios
