Question The new Shanghai F1 circuit - opinions

What's everyones opinion on the new track?

I really like it apart from the back straight is faaaaaaar to long! 1.1KM they said on the T.V today, its a bit silly although i do see the appeal in some ways of almost getting the F1 cars to top out

The first corner reminds me of the final corner at Silverstone....quite a long sweeping right-hand turn...none of the other parts to the circuit really hit me as anything amazing.

There seems to be good run-off areas for the cars so hopefully we won't be seeing any nasty accidents if there's a collision in the race. The track is awe inspiring from the images and buildings it has in it, i really like the idea of each team having its own hut on a lake.

A good place to have a GP...but you can't replace classics imo like the European ones.

from what i saw in quali it looked alright, certainly a circuit that needs to be driven proper , should give us some proper racing hopefully with plenty of overtaking and dragging out of that last corner ,i didnt catch what the weather was going to be like for the race tho but id like it to rain for some skid pan like fun

I think there was a corner where you had to compromise speed through a righthander so that you are slow enough for the next lefthander - this may make for a passing place. The lead car slows down to do it right - the overtaker passes a bit faster and then has to make sure he fits into next corner but he is then on the inside. The long straight will let people get a bit of a slipstream so thats good. The fact that they made it in the shape of a symbol is cool too
