    1. No idea.
    2. Even less idea. But fewer. Probably.
    3. Probably.

I'm 100% sure I'm right on one of these.

    Re: Quick Quiz

    Interesting.

Well what have Subaru brought out recently in the UK of interest? SUV? People carrier? City car? Executive range?

Porsche are selling Cayenne's by the (relative) bucket load I expect. Audi have a better SUV and city car range than BMW (unless BMW includes mini?)

    Re: Quick Quiz

I guessed the way I did, because more car accidents around these parts are caused by BMWs than any other (from the news stories ive read anyhow) so I think everyone else reading them think they're unsafe cars and/or for people with tiny man parts to show off.
and from the news about the snow blizzards in winter, everyone would look for 4wd, then remember audi has Quattro and buy that, plus they have the german fuel economy and meaty look aswell.

subaru - they seem to be pulling out of the UK, no more impreza, not allowed to sell that GT86 equivalent (someone on this forum mentioned that they were only allowed to sell 1 for every 100 Toyotas sold iirc) they may not be able to buy one in the first place,
so why buy something that will have no future in spare parts or factory support, if subura have no confidence in the UK that doesn't translate to the buyer having much confidence either. plus they've lost the 'look' of the car and it looks just like any other car.

Porsche - theres too many similar models to choose from, it puts people off.

as for the actual figures, I was pretty close on the audi numbers

What this means is that VW and Aidi between them... are doing a Tesco

add Seat and Skoda to that number....

and be afraid!.. and please don't expect VW and Audi residuals to stay strong.. not with that volume.

If you combine Ford and Vauxhall, frankly previously the working family cars... you get 339k
Add VW, and Audi alone and you get v close to 100k

with Skoda and Seat you're into 262k

    and BMW... out registering Nissan!

Yeah but in this case it's more like Waitrose in terms of the quality of goods compared to Ford/Vaux

Well Tesco aren't that bad either, Waitrose are just a little better.

We've known VW group residuals should be lower on volume for a while - I couldn't possibly have considered driving an Audi otherwise. But I like my car I do want a mazda 3 fastback next.. but without the volume I doubt the secondhand market will be cheap enough for me for a while.

VW are being careful about their sales too though.. a friend of mine just bought a brand new Polo (Bluemotion GT - very nice) and when he was initially looking he was told they can do a deal on the Polo or Passat, but no deals, reductions or offers on the Golf - full stop if you want it you pay the price. Not saying they wouldn't have moved a bit if pushed, but that was the initial response from all the dealers he tried (about 5).

With Audi and BMW I think they've got massively into the fleet market for middle management over the past 5 years with the A3/A4/A5 and Mini/1/3/5 respectively looking at least as attractive for Benefit in Kind as Ford and Vaux's offerings - although I bet quite a few of those Mercs registered have been fleet A Class's they're going for the A3 fleets head on with that.

...and Subaru might be doing badly here, but i'm sure they're still shifting volume in their local AUS/NZ market - you can't move for Scoobies over there.
