Need help - Installing CD Player in my new car

I just this week picked my new car up, which is very nice, and got me flamed sadly on another forum, anyhow the problem is that it came wlready fitted with a CD player, which sort of works. In my other car I've got an Mp3 CD player, and wnated to put this in the new car.

Get the old player in the car out, only to find a very short set of leads indeed Is there anyway I can get an adaptor to make the lead I need to connect into the CD player any longer ?? Or am I going to be manually wiring it in with terminal block ?? Or will i be forced to have to take it somewhere else to be fitted for me, I have to say I am tempted to do that and then not have all the bother myself, when really it's an easy job to just plug ISO connector to CD Player.

Got to halfords they do loom adapter kits. Normally there is a little book thing near them telling you which one you need for what car. I fitted a Sony in to my mates vectra in about 5 minutes using a multitool. Halfords wanted around £50 to do the same job.

The connecting lead in the new car is standard, it's just too short lol, but will go have a look tomorrow.

I would get the Vauxhall ISO adapter and swop the yellow and red wires around on itr. Then you should just have a straight through ISO lead!

The physical plugs are the same, its just they have those two wires swopped... That should do the trick I reckon.

I always have the opposite problem! Too many wires and too litlle space!!

Yeah, Vauxhall use the normal ISO standard connectors, just that iirc the yellow and red are swopped. So if you swopped those two wires around, you will no longer have a Vauxhall adapter, but a standard ISO lead, wich you will beable to use as an extension (about 10cm).

If you have a look at the Vaux adapter when you go looking in halfords or where ever, you will see what I mean.

oooh I hadn't realised it was a Vauxhall already! I like the Corsa! I know a few people with them! I wouldn't worry about getting flamed! As long as you like it! I get the mick taken out of me too, coz of my "hairdresser's" car!

Out of interest, how did you get it sorted? Was the stereo you took out the orginal Vaux one or an aftermarket jobbie? I once installed a new stereo in an S reg corsa, what a pain! The original stereo's cage was bolted in! And didn't have much loom to play with!

Glad you got it sorted tho!

It's a nice little car, so clean, and so well looked after, for an L reg it looks almost new

Anyyhow, a trip to Halfords, and £17 later I got am ISO adaptor and an Antena adaptor. And there was sod all loom to play with too!! The CD player I took out was a JVC afctermarket 1, which I replaced with my JVC MP3 CD Player
