Hey Guy, yup, 520d Loving the ZF box, sports transmission is SOOOOO much fun; coupled with 'Sports Mode', I'm pretty much running out of road here!!
Have MJ's 'Black or White' playing in the background... The front-wall's been demolished as I'm having two-new roller doors installed
Congrats and drive safely.

this will be the first and possible the last time I defend BMW... but here goes, cos it's true
Many exec cars have another option.... reclining rear seats.
In those cars you rarely get folding seats... it just isn't viable.
SO.... they charge more for folding because it IS more to make the car with them and not everyone wants them.
And why? Why don't people who don't have reclining rear seats always want folding rear seats? Because the rear bulkhead is then solid, and nearly impregnable. Unlike folding seats. Body shell stiffness will also be marginally imporved and it's POSSIBLE that some security forces will want the boot secure on their version of the car.
So... while you all think it's penny /euro cent pinching... it's actually likely to be a proper cost line on the vast costing model in their overheads.
I'll now go away.....

Picked mine up this evening, very pleased so far - will need a few days to get used it as its very different from a manual E60-LCI 520d MSport.
The multi function panel is awesome:

Love it!! Yeah, I was wishing for this option as it's much harder to drive 'stick' without the gear indication - I've got to keep an eye on rpms.
For years (Since I was 12) I've been used to driving manual and have gotten used to feeling/hearing the engine to know when to shift essentially; I have no need for a rpm indicator. But that's not the case in my 520d. The cabin insulation is incredible and over the radio... good luck hearing the engine. The electronic steering means you don't really feel the road or much of the engine's rattle.
Does your's include the rear camera view on reverse and night-vision profile on the MFD?
Makes sense and quite plausible. I was of the impression such reclining seats (First class seats for the 7-series) were limited to the 7-series. I've always felt the 5-series is meant to be driven by the owner rather than be chauffeured around in; the 7 is there for that purpose.
LCD's I'm guessing. They should use retina displays!!

Hmm good point, I was just wondering if the display was of high quality they could some how mimic some depth to the '2D' dials/markers. On mine, it's old-school physical dial/inset markers and while it isn't as functional as the MFD, looks a bit better.
Apt comparison BTW
