Bought my first car since moving back... 2014 Facelift Beauty...

Hi all,

Last week I took this same model for a test-drive twice; fell in love during the first drive, the rest is history! Here's a snap from last Saturday since I took delivery - this is when I collected it from BMW here in Sri Lanka.



Took it down our 'highway' the same day on paper-plates...







A couple obligatory wrist shots... (most of you'll know me for my watch madness...)





...spent the day today getting it pampered. Did 3M window tinting today as well - Crystalline for the fronts, 35% for the rear 3-windows.



Hope you enjoyed the snaps. Been a week and I've done 410+ km. I don't get to drive much Mon-Fri unfortunately.

Thanks guys... absolutely loving it. Discovered it has a ZF 8HP sports transmission - moving the shifter from D to M/S (to the left) puts the transmission into 'Sport' mode - this is different to the sport mode obtained via the larger buttons near the traction control switch. With both enabled - it's an absolute adrenaline rush...!

Its a 530d Luxury comes with pro-nav - I have added in Sport auto, reversing camera, split folding rear seats, multi function display, folding auto dimming ext mirrors, advanced loudspeaker system.

This will be my 3rd 5 series in a row, but first new order, so very excited.

You don't want to get into too many other comparisons between a Yaris and a 5-series.. well maybe minimum parking space

It just amazes me what basic stuff they miss off 'premium' cars - I understand why they do it, it just seems a rip off. A3 doesn't even have cruise control as standard.

Different priorities/pricing schemes. Not everyone wants split seats for example, and not including might mean standard installation is quicker and cheaper. Cruise control isn't standard on many cars. The way things price for company cars has weird effects on standard list prices/options too - check out some of vaux's offerings - they sometimes have a model specification that costs less on the sheet for far more kit, deliberately for the tax rate, while knowing that the other specifications are ripe for dealer discounts.

Yaris is a hatchback, split fold rears on saloons are uncommon.

Hah, I was surprised myself to find 'split folding rear seats' as an option as well.

Mind has a few options: Sport auto, MFD (not to the level as the Luxury line), cruise control, split folding rear seats, folding auto dimming ext mirrors, upgraded loudspeaker setup, Xenon lamps that automatically adjust during day/night, rain sensor, automatic rear blind, manual blinds for rear doors (x4 blinds).

No GPS here in Sri Lanka (many roads outside of Colombo aren't really 'marked' as such) so my 'Nav' button does squat.

Audi is the same, folding rear seats is an option... I didn't know this so now have no rear folding seats!
