Llandow, Wales, April 8th. Come along by all means but you wont get any track time as it's a CRX-UK organised event which is fully booked up. But I will happily demonstrate the potential...

    Another little update...

Recently revised the chassis setup; heavier springs, better tyres, some more poly bushes, new wheel bearings, new rear brakes and some Eibach wheel spacers. Spent the last 2 days at TGM setting it up (don't ask!) but here's a few pics that make me smile

Team Niknak Motorsport is go go go

Nope... Brands Hatch next Wednesday and Silverstone GP on August 3rd. That's all I've got planned as yet. May do the Time Attack in September when it's at Silverstone, haven't made my mind up yet.

Llandow is great... but seriously, you will be bored with it after half a day. And the surface is really bad for a stiff car, soften those dampers off!!

Its a small track, bit of a laugh really. For £75 open pit, all day, can't argue with it to be honest.

Hmm the dampers are at their softest and its still rock solid 12/8.5's do that though, don't they do?

Is that a kg/mm spring rate? Front to rear?

If so, your definition of stiff is quite a bit different to mine! How many millions of tonnes does your barge weigh?

Well - it is a road car after all. At least it has coilovers which is always a good start

And hey - it might weigh alot, (1320kg) but it handles like an elise, and its got the power to match the weight so i dont see cause for concern

    Fair enough then

Watch out for the braking zone into the chicane next to the pits, that's the worst bit for surface. Very difficult to get it right, you either chicken out and brake early or you bounce off the ABS, or you do what I did a few times and take to the 'oh shi*' lane!

Also, watch out for the kerbs; some (particularly around the exit of that chicane) are quite heigh.

Not anymore, the ABS computer/ecu that was in the boot is now out but the main gubbins in the engine bay are a little more complicated. With the engine out over the winter, I'll run new brake lines and make it neat and tidy.

Time for a little update on my on-going project!

After discovering that I had some seriously competitive pace at Brands Hatch in December, I decided to swing the odds a little further my way with some engine mods. I hadn't touched the engine in the 2+ years of owning the car, so I was breaking new ground! I now have a newer engine of the same type, but it's been fiddled with so it's estimated to be producing 15-20hp more than the old engine. It's also done about 50k miles less

I've just finished rebuilding the gearbox with a shorter final drive (gone from 3.8 to 4.4). The very brief and limited testing I've done so far has scared the b-jesus out of me - this thing is seriously rapid now!! But that's not it... I've got some race spec cams going in in about a weeks time so the target, after some tuning, becomes 170-180hp. About 40hp more than I used to have. Enough to easily crack 200hp per ton

I'm off to Combe on March 3rd to see what it's like, so I'll report back after that. Here's some pics...

Should be ready to race by the middle of the year

is that some kind of lock on the bonnet above the headlights?

    Sounds fast, but expensive
Any plans to put a turbo in it?

Bonnet pins. Devices to prevent free range bonnet syndrome incase of latch failure.

Shad, is that still a D Series lump?
