    I wonder how many of you turn too far...

    ...when exiting corners or roundabouts.

    It occured to me recently that lots of people continue round a corner for way too long.....

    So I showed David what I meant and he sussed it straight away.

    Drift wide on the exit, get the wheels straight earlier and DONT GO ROUND CORNERS THAT SHOULD BE STRAIGHTENED OUT

    SO tonight and tomorrow....all of ya.....enter wide, slip nicely through the apex and then drift back to the outside of the corner on exit....and get that corner STRAIGHTENED OUT.

    And when exiting a round about.....you dont need to exit IN THE MIDDLE of the exit road, (with a wobble of the body shell as the steering unwinds in a hurry).......leave the roundabout wide and get the steering unwound earlier.....

    Trust me......(and David too) ..it works a treat

    understood and as far as I can tell, I do straighten out "properly", unless they are areas I havent driven through before, especially new roundabouts when its busy

    the exit from every roundabout is really wide......when you go al the way around it..(say turning right) once you are 3/4 of the way around, start unloading the suspension.....unwind it so that you leave the roundabout near the kerb side.....

    same applies for corners....people go round 90 degree corners FOR TOO LONG......you can go round about 60degrees of it tightly but the first and last 15 degrees should be done MUCH WIDER.....

    I cant get proper pictures of this...

    just try it....UNWIND YOUR STEERING EARLIER

    EXIT WIDE.....

    hey...when its raining, with the steering whel cranked round, you got no hope of getting the power down and WORSE it wont even pull you round tthe corner, cos the weight of the car trying to go "straight on" will stop it...

    however....get that steering wheel unwound and you will soon get out of the corner better....with more steering, not less....

    A good example is this.......when watching GrandPrix, how come drivers always seem to turn in the middle of the short straights, but seem to go straight through the corners when the track is actually bending?

    Cos the corner starts way before the tarmac bends, and finishes way beyond when the tarmac straightens.....and ironically that normally means geting lined up for the NEXT corner in the middle of a STRAIGHT BIT!

    Try to do that anyway - means you don't have to brake so much going in, and the power comes in a lot smoother, and it's less effort. More efficient too.

    Don't drive every corner like this - or you end up with really tight and smooth racing lines, then you get pulled by a copper.....

    Also, don't try and smooth it out too much as armco, little old ladies and go left signs dont look cool wrapped around the front wings...

    heh, yup
    other drivers might get out of their cars and start smashing your windscreen with a crowbar or someting when they get pissed off at you
