    corsa heater illumination

    hi;
    Have recently purchased a 1993 corsa 1.2i merit (the basic,basic one!), & as it appears to have no illumination on the heater controls is it the bulb(s) gone (& if so how easy are they to replace) or fuse-the handbook isn't a lot of help with so much optional equipment OR was it that basic that it had no lights at all in this area??-also with the standard phillips radio cassette, did only the on/off button light up?.thank's.

    right: the bulbs in the centre console are most likely dead. You CAN take it all out, but depends how much time you have.

    The stereo is supposed to light up also, and it is very likely the bulbs in the stereo are dead....most Corsa Merits didn't have a stereo at all !! What unit is it. CAR201?

    Silly question: Does your interior lamp work? When you open the doors? If not then it IS a fuse and it needs changing.

    thank's everyone & zak- the interior bulbs light up when the doors open, so as you point out it's probably the bulbs that have gone.As for the stereo i didnt realise one wasn't fitted as standard-talk about basic!!yes it is the phillips car201 model.
    i have sort of gotten around the problem by using a small clip on led torch(£5.99 wilkinsons stores) & clipping this on the binnacle that houses the time etc.it has a flexy lead so i just pointed it down-bit bright but at least i can see things now!
    the one thing that amazes me about this car is that its 6 years newer than my last car( base cavalier) but it's a lot tinnier,has no central locking, no mirror on the passenger sunshield, no sunroof,no interior light in the boot area,& no cigar lighter, but worst of all has no warning buzzer if you leave the lights on when you open the door! The cavi. had all these things -- oh well, that's progress!!

    www.ultraleds.co.uk sell some funky blue LEDs for dashboards

    Theres a customer project on that website too of a Vauxhall Corsa that has had all the dials and heater controls converted to blue.

    i have that :|

    UltraLED's are very expensive, you want 501T;'s if you buy from them however.

    alternitivly, join corsasport.co.uk, and message user Cobra148 as he sells them cheap as chips.

    heres some of his examples :

    Blue dials are the way forward

    I'm doing mine at the weekend. All surface mounted diodes though.
