Bring that beast up to date.....

    Add EFI!

Taken from an email from BBTuning.

As many will know a new 5 GT carburettor has been unavailable for nearly 2 years now and a good second hand item is rarer than &.well you know the saying. The only solution recently has been fingers crossed to hope that our carburettor overhaul kit will save the day, but unfortunately these cant repair, worn or damaged carburettors, which are becoming more common.

Our new EFI kit will replace the carburettor completely and not only bring the 5 turbo up to date and allow it to run without the use of the carburettor, but will also add no end of benefits and performance gains to the car including:-

*Better hot starting (No need for the anti-perc fan)

    *Better cold starting

    *No Carburettor freeze anymore

    *Smoother running

*Improved fuel economy on general usuage

*At least a 20% increase in performance on most applications

*Reduced turbo lag and off boost response

*Fully adjustable ignition and fuel maps

*Future ready when cat fitted for lower emissions

*Built in safety features (Boost cut, charge air temp monitoring and improved knock adjustment to name a few)

*Optional additional features available at a later date including, Anti-lag, launch control, full throttle shifting, automated water injection and IC water spray control.

*Minimal fuss re-mapping when adding additional performance parts at a later date.

The kit has been designed to utilize as many of the cars original fixtures and fittings i.e. Original boost pipe work, breather and water hoses. This allows us to keep the conversion as low cost as possible without compromising the main objective more power.

Prices are estimated at £1500 fully fitted and setup, this will be confirmed on the next update (Early January) along with results and pictures&&.. Watch this space !!!

    Fitted Prices

Recently updated on our website, fitted prices are now back online for our Renault tuning range. These have also been modified to take into account our club members discount status so it will not also be alot cheaper to buy the parts, but also considerably cheaper to have them fitted.

Yeah, been keeping my eye on this. It's nothing new, and generally BB don't develop stuff themselves as such - they just buy it in and market it. Fastchip have been doing all the real development work. It's based on a Clio 16v ECU if memory serves.

1500 quid is a lot of money for 20% A standard car can gain 20% more power for a couple of hundred quid, if that. You only really need to look at FI once you hit the limit of carb tuning which is about 240bhp.

So - will I get one? Not at 1500 quid I wouldn't. If it were 500 quid (never gonna happen) then yeah I'd spend my hard earned. But I'm a skin flint - hence why I've got a GTT.
