And before anyone jumps in and says if men are better drivers why do women get cheaper insurance....

Women have more accidents than men, its just that like many other things when a man does it he does it properly lol....

    This is actually true BTW

Men have fewer accidents but they are "bigger" if you know what I mean whereas women have lots more accidents but are things like parking "shunts" and the like e.g. low speed impacts.

I've always wondered about that statistic - what is the proportion of male drivers to female drivers ? I mean if (for example) there are more men driving than women, then surely it would stand to reason that men have more accidents..

Need I go on? I think not.
men are more confident hence are better drivers in certain situations.

I saw a perfect example of why i call women bad drivers on the way to the bus stop this morning though, kid in passenger seat, both hands off the wheel messing with her makeup and all this at 200 yds away from a busy school and she wasn't exactly crawling along either.....................

Ok, cat amongst the pigeons here.... The following are NOT MY results or opinions but the result of a pretty extensive experiment done to answer the "men v women" debate.

The results showed the following -

Men - suggested to be better drivers overall. Their distance perception is far higher and more "complete" than women allowing them to judge gaps and distances better which helps with e.g. parking etc. This is supposedly the much mentioned "hunter-gatherer" instinct that we have supposed to have carried on over the millions of years.

This "distance perception" does, however, mean that men drive with a "tunnel vision" and see generally straight ahead with some vision slightly to the sides.....

Men also are more confident drivers (in the whole) and tend to take more risks (this depends on what you call a risk) which is why they have more serious crashes.

However, driving this confidently and purposely has the effect of other drivers around them being very aware of their intentions i.e. they KNOW the male driver is going to pull out of the junction so are prepared.

Women - The experiment suggested that women make better navigators due to them having the complete opposite of mens tunnel vision and can pick out landmarks etc easier. This has the downside of having a fairly "flat" field of view resulting in poorer distance perception and can cause things liek parking probs (judging gaps etc)

Women are generally less confident drivers. This "safe not sorry" approach may seem sensible and, at times, pays off but this has a HUGE problem with other drivers not entirely sure of the women drivers intentions e.g. hesitantly pulling out of junctions then stopping then going then changing their mind means noone really knows what to expect and so are unprepared.....

Take from that what you will

The thing is, women don't have most accidents, they are the cause of them! They only need look in their inside mirror!
