Well the fact that you were on a bike and he was in a car puts the odds in your favour for a start, particularly if its unclear who's fault it was.

Thats what I was thinking, as for £1900 damage to a polo are you sure you read it right and it wasnt £1900 improvement?

it was both of our fauts - we were both in the middle of a narrow section of road. i dont think he personally is claiming - it all seems to be coming from the insurance - but even so some of the repairs are iffy - i think the garage is taking the piss. what i remember is that i hit his front headlight and windscreen only, but damages range from front crossmemeber (thats fully structural stuff isnt it??) - to paint to a new bonnet to door seals to a number plate... the list goes on.

    Witnesses ?

Sorry m8 but the way its looking you should be suing him. As it stands he'd get laughed out of court.

Get your own quote done, IIRC if you've got to pay for the repairs YOU chose where its done. You dont have to go to where they say.

Surly a bloke on a bike can't do that mucg damage to a car, hes gotta be taking the mick

Glad to see you came out alright considering

Get in touch with the CAB, sounds like you're being stitched up there.

Make sure they supply you with a full quote of what the damage was and how much the repairs were. Get this checked out at a garage that you trust.

If you were both in the middle of a narrow section of road it'll be 50/50. You don't have to pay a penny mate, although equally he won't have to pay for your bike or injuries.

Just write a polite letter to the insurance company saying you don't believe the accident was your fault and you have no intention of paying. More than likely they'll just give up, they're probably just trying their luck now. My brother had an accident a few years ago when he hit a car that was crossing the road in front of him: a lorry had stopped to let the car out and he was going up the inside of the lorry. The insurance company wrote asking for about £700; my mum wrote them a letter telling them to sod off and we never heard from them again. Remember: insurance companies=scum.

Also, £1900 is way excessive for repairs to the car. If they were intending to make you pay they should have contacted you before they proceeded; this makes me think even more that they're just trying their luck.

    Good luck,

    Rich :¬)
